I heard this song today, and I couldn't help but think of little Matilda.

The song came out here in Australia in about 1970....written and performed by an Austrlian pop singer Brian Cadd..

I have found the lyrics, but I dont have you tube here on my laptop, so if anyone can find a link to it please post it.....its a great song.

Here are the lyrics.....

A Little Ray Of Sunshine
========================
by Brian Cadd and Don Mudie

Her fathers says she has to have a name,
not the same as her mom's, but a name just the same,
a little ray of sunshine has come into the world,
a little ray of sunshine in the shape of a girl.

We'll show her the dress that she'll wear
with the gold flowing hair that nature provided
my little ray of sunshine has come into the world,
my little ray of sunshine in the shape of a girl.

A little ray of sunhine -
I want to know if you think she looks good in the pink,
Grandma has bought her ... our own little daughter.

She can make you feel good,
she can make you feel that it's all worthwhile,
only by her smile, only by her smile ...

Have you noticed she's just like her father,
and I think that I'd rather
her hair was much darker,
my little ray of sunshine has come into the world,
my little ray of sunshine in the shape of a girl.

She can make you feel good,
she can make you feel that it's all worthwhile,
only by her smile, only by her smile, only by her smile ...
talkin' 'bout my little ray of sunshine,
my little ray of sunshine,
little ray of sunshine,
loittle ray, little ray, little ray,
sweet little darlin',
my little ray of sunshine, woa woa woa ... hmmmm ....
Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.

It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfection

Looking through these many pictures posted I'm struck by nothing as much as what a changeable, somehow mallable (sp?) face he had.

A couple of pictures including the one you posted above, Chrissi, makes me think he'd have done marvellously camping it up in drag.  8) Not that he couldn't have done just about everything marvellously.   :-\

I've thrown myself at The Queen's Gambit and it's truly a fascinating book, one of those that challenges you with a protagonist that is multi-dimensional and has her likable as well as less likable sides, where nothing is purely black or white (except the chess pieces  ::) ) - and the theme of the book for as far as I've read (I'm far from finishing It yet) seems strangely relevant to Heath's own life. So has that discussion thread been started yet?

The thought never crossed my mind, but reading it made me think of this pic:

I've always thought he looks like a woman in the above pic; the posture, the feminine sunglasses and the frills (quillings?) on the sleeve. I think I wouldn't have recognized him in this pic.
But then there's this one going with the first, and this smile I'd recognize anywhere. Same clothes (minus the frills which we don't see), but nothing feminine about Heath in this photo, despite the glasses.

*sigh*  :(

It's not fair...  :'(

I bit my tongue here (or my fingers) to keep from commenting. No, we haven't started discussions yet. Some people are still waiting for their book to arrive.
