Heath Heath Heath
MaineWriter:
I can't find the USA Today story online but I ripped it out of the paper (for my reliquary) so my friends, I will re-key it in again here, just for you.
Ledger is here, in spirit
Heath Ledger, who died last month...was on the on the minds of many -- especially those who worked on the Bob Dylan biopic I'm Not There,
which received the Robert Altman Award.
Cate Blanchett won supporting actress for playing one of several versions of Dylan in the film. Blanchett dedicated her award to Ledger, who played another Dylan, and said he was "one of the most beautiful independent spirits of all."
Her award was presented by Aaron Eckhart, who will play Harvey Two-Face Dent in this summer's Batman film The Dark Knight, and shares scenes with Ledger's Joker. "It's a devastating loss," Eckhart said. "In Batman he is stunning."
On the arrivals carpet, I'm Not There director Todd Haynes said he believed Ledger would have made every effort to be present to accept the award with the rest of the cast. "He was really devoted to this film. He didn't like promoting -- found it a bore -- but he was really there for this film every step he could be. We're still reeling from the loss."
After being greeted on the carpet with a glass of Champagne, Ledger's friend Sienna Miller was brought to tears at the mere mention of his name. "I just can't without bursting into tears, sorry."
BelAir:
isn't it Todd Haynes? not Todd Hayes?
(too lazy to look it up myself)
someone remind me when I'm Not There is due on DVD (again, too lazy to look myself)
Well, I'm in a weird funk. All I can say is I hope we can discuss Heath and his movies until 'kingdom come,' as they say...

DVD Verdict has the release date as 2008-05-06. And yes it' s Haynes, not Hayes.
BelAir:
