And then I just realized the date that the Oscar noms will be announced.

It's January 22nd.

 :o

Oh no, I had no idea.  How utterly...there are no words.  :(

I didn't have any sort of investment in last year's Oscars...   I didn't remember that.

But the Oscars are announced in the morning, and January 22, 2008 was a long day. In fact, if I hadn't refreshed a news page late in the evening before closing the PC down as I was going to bed, it would have seemed an entirely ordinary day.  :'( :-\ :-\ :-\ *sigh*

I kept refreshing and refreshing and thinking it couldn't possibly be true. I figured they had to have the name wrong. Then Chrissi PMd me, or I PMd her..... thank God for Bettermostians when you need someone to keep you sane! (That still holds true, one year later!!!)

I was also on my way to bed. Just refreshing BM one last time before shutting down the PC.
 :'(

(Mikaela) At least we had each other that night.

I can't believe it's almost a year. Sometimes it's still hard to believe it happened at all. :(

I remember reading in an article that the Oscars were announced on Jan 22nd - but nobody talked about it, nobody was interested in the Oscars that day.

I'm really dreading January 22nd.

I'm actually thinking of not logging in that day, but that's probably not the right way.  :-\

I don't know... I wish I could just 'let be, let be' but I guess I'm not ready to. *sigh*

I'm crossing my fingers Heath will be nominated that day. I mean he is nominated for a GG, for a SAG, why would Oscars overlook him?

Oh, I'm very sure he'll be nominated. The win is much more doubtful.

And imagine the bad, bad PR for the Academy Awards if they didn't nominate him! The Oscar nom news headlines would all be "Oscar snubs Ledger on the anniversary of his....  :-\

Given the voting system that lead to the Academy Awards nominations I'm not quite sure all the voters have  made the connection between the dates, but otherwise that kind of non-acting related consideration is just the kind of politicking that engenders Oscar noms and Oscar wins IMO.
