He was great. I really liked him. Friendly, funny, intelligent, surprisingly candid. I only talked to him on the phone (though from what I've seen elsewhere, he's still cute at 60-whatever). He expressed very mixed feelings -- amazement, bitterness, nostalgia, affection, a sort of ironic distance -- toward the whole Monkee experience.
Now he's my favorite Monkee, too! Who knew that after all these years, I could quit Michael Nesmith?
