I made my decision and sped up.  I was really flying and I guess he knew I wasn't going to stop and if he tried to stop me, we both would be pretty banged up if not injured.  At the last moment, he stepped aside and I went past him.  I looked back.  He was all alone, no one else around, no car, nothing, nada.  No idea why he was just standing there.     :-\

Well, I bet he was up to no good, what a scary story and so glad to hear you made the right decision at that time...  :-\

Fantastic topic. Here in the United States we are kind of a slave to our cars. The lack of public transportation here is a frequent subject because my mother is from Europe and we are aware of how much better transit is there.

I have a goal not to own a car and I really respect people in this country who do not have one. When I fully retire I will not have a car. I may have a bike or just walk and take the bus. I actually do not feel safe out walking or riding on my own. A car can be a bit of personal safety from others. But I refuse to work just to support a car. They are expensive with insurance etc. I can't wait for the simplicity of not having one.
