Sculptures by Ron Mueck

Penthesilea:
Shasta542 posted a link to scultpures by Ron Mueck in the How We Live forum. I'm totally enthusiastic about those sculptures. They are incredible and I thought I'd share it with you all. Thanks to Shasta for bringing it to my attention  :-*.

Mueck is a former photographer and hyperrealist sculptor. If you want to know more about him, see wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_mueck

Now on with the pics:

I think one is especially amazing. The two ladies look so real, that the guy in the pics seems to be "wrong" somehow:

I find this one very moving. Sweet and fragile due to the small size:

Detail of a huge sculpture:

The same figure as WIP:

Mueck's work is characterized by the hyperrealistic details - but his sculptures are never to scale. I think the combination of those two elements is what makes them so fascinating and a bit unsettling.

There are two examples of another sculpture, which would violate the image policy. Therefore I just post the links:

Shasta was so kind to post a link to more photos of Mueck's work:
