A Berliner is what I would call a jelly donut. And I know that donuts are made with yeast (or can be) but fried dough is really bread dough and I think donut dough is somewhat different. Sweeter maybe?

A million years ago, there was this great restaurant in Meredith, NH that served fried bread as the bread in the basket. It wasn't sweet and I ate it with butter. Boy was that good stuff and boy, does that bring back a memory. Yum!

I have several comfort foods:

1) Fried chicken

2) Oysters

3) Shrimp

4) sand dabs

5) ox tails

Whew, some of this stuff sounds so incredibly gross to me, DIScomfort food.  :laugh:  Variety is the spice of life.

My favorite (current) comfort food is delish and takes only few minutes to make.  I don't have a name for it yet!  :)


-  Get a bag of Bob's 10 Grain Pancake and Waffle Mix; follow directions; make a pancake
- After flipping it over, spread a *generous* helping of organic chocolate & peanut butter spread on half of the pancake.
- Fold over the other half.  In a few seconds the chocolate melts.
- Place on a warm plate and drizzle with pure maple syrup.
- Dig in!


Maybe I can call it Maple Chocolate Peanut Butter Grain Pancakes.  :P

Trust me ... it is G-O-O-D!  ;)
