Ah at last another Dubonnet drinker ;D I love Dubonnet with a splash of vermouth and a twist of lime over crushed ice. Very classy. ::)

Of course, there are dozens of variations on this cocktail (and I particularly prefer mine on the rocks rather than frozen and blended). Here's one good one... a little fancier than the standard:
Cadillac Margarita
Serves 1.
2 fresh lime wedges
1 1/2 ounces of your favorite tequila, silver or gold
1 ounce fresh sweet and sour mix
1/2 ounce Cointreau
1/2 ounce Grand Marnier
Salt (optional)
Squeeze lime into a shaker. Top with ice, then pour in all other ingredients except Grand Marnier and salt. Shake well. If you like, salt the rim of a 12-ounce glass. Pour drink into glass; top with Grand Marnier.

OK... here's another fun old-style drink. I'm kind of a fan of kitschy old-school cocktails.
Tom Collins ~

2 oz gin
1 oz lemon juice
1 tsp superfine sugar
3 oz club soda
1 maraschino cherry
1 slice orange
In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine the gin, lemon juice, and sugar. Shake well. Strain into a collins glass almost filled with ice cubes. Add the club soda. Stir and garnish with the cherry and the orange slice.

I remember having quite a few Vodka Collinses back in college days. A looooong time ago. Never cared for the taste of gin, and the only change is to substitute vodka for gin. Delish!

And another drink I grew up on (in New Orleans, the drinking age was 18 back then and even underage it was common to have a drink before and wine with dinner. Much more civilized down there.) is a half-and-half, half sweet vermouth, half dry (one jigger each), with a lemon peel to wipe the edge of the glass with and then plunked into the drink. Very pleasant.

For Lynne
The Maker's Makes Mark Manhattan
Three parts Maker's Mark Bourbon
One part sweet vermouth (or less)
Dash Angostura bitters
Fill shaker halfway with ice
Add ingredients
ShakeShakeShake
Garnish with cherry
Get along, little dogies
Variation: for a "Perfect" Manhattan, use equal parts sweet and dry vermouth. Often the bitters are omitted, and served with a twist.
