How'd it go in NOLA? How was the fellowship?

Busy and fun, thanks! I got a lot of material to write about, and had a chance to spend time with old friends. The weather was mostly very pleasant (the highs dipped down to about 60 at one point, which was cold for there). I made friends with some of the other fellows, including one with whom I rode the streetcar from one end to the other, which I had never done (though it goes right past my old apartment). I went shopping and visited some excellent restaurants and, in lieu of a snowboard, brought my son a muffaletta the size of a dinner plate.

It's a classic New Orleans sandwich -- basically cold cuts, sliced cheese and olive salad. It is literally the size of a dinner plate. Invented at this little hole-in-the wall place called Central Grocery, it's famous in the city and beyond.

I never heard of it, but it sure looks good! :D

I've got friends who have had muffulettas, and they swear they're delicious. I'm not a big fan of olives, so the olive salad is an obstacle for me. LOL
