I write checks for my son's rent (although last year, when he had a different -- more corporate -- landlord, I paid online). I write checks to my handyman, whom I hire maybe a couple of times a year. I write checks to, um ... well, I'm sure I've written two or three others over the past year, but they were most likely one-offs rather than regular payments.
I pay my mortgage online, and my mortgage is held by the same bank where have my checking account, so that's particularly convenient.
