Well, I'm happy to say that's not the reason it's a holiday here. I'm not quite sure why it's a holiday, but as long as I get a day off work I don't care! ;D (it's called the thirteenth day of xmas, but I have no idea why that is cause for celebration).

The calendar of the Episcopal Church still gives it the tedious name The Epiphany, or the Manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles.

Hello Sonja, just following up on Paul's and Jeff's posts. January 6th is called different names. Some call it The Epiphany, some call it Three Kings Day, and others call it "Little Christmas". It is the day that the Magi arrived at the Nativity, and presented Jesus with gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh.
This day is considered the end of the Christmas season.
I've talked with people who misunderstand the timing of the season, specifically the song "The 12 Days of Christmas". They think the 12th day of Christmas is Dec 25th, and the gift giving in the song starts on Dec 13th.
