You never told us before that  your friend R. is 5 years old.

Exactly. He should have told you at the outset he wanted to write two. You would have said sorry, every author writes one, that's the structure of the book. Then he should have said, "Oh damn, I didn't realize that. Oh well, I'll take snowdrops then." If he really wanted crocuses he could try to get the other guy to trade.

That is only the tip of the iceberg. R. is also irked that when he writes about a plant, people ask him "Where do you  get this?" Well, of course they do! I told him he should clearly state in his original post or article where the plant can be sourced and if it is very rare and not available, he should say that too. Which begs the question, why is he writing about an unobtainable plant? To show off, is the answer.  :P

But, I'm being harsh. R. had a difficult childhood, the only son of an Army vet who was shot in the head in the Korean War. His mother, also a military child, tried to hide her husband's difficulties from him and his sister and was very much a helicopter parent. R. is in therapy constantly but IMO has never overcome the insecurities and issues of his childhood. I'll try to be more tolerant.

Don't want to hijack friend Chuck's blog much longer, but wanted to report that R. called me this afternoon and we had a totally delightful conversation about witch hazels. Go figure!

Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

How is everyone doing this weekend?

Work has been pretty busy lately, but I've stayed on top of everything, and I'm able to relax this weekend.

Still a lot of snow around, it's been too cold for anything to melt.

I have no major plans for this weekend, I plan to just take it easy.  I do need to get to grocery store.  I've been invited to a Superbowl party next weekend, and have been asked to make some stromboli for the party, so I want to get the stuff I need now, before it's sold out next weekend.

I also need to increase the pressure in my tires, the cold has caused it to drop in all 4 tires.  I'll top off the tank while I'm doing that.   Finally, I'll hit CVS to pick up a prescription, and other items I need, using the gift cards I got at Christmas.

It's a Superbowl party weekend, and ingredients used for appetizers will be big sellers as people make stuff to serve at their parties.

they may not make stromboli, but they may make their own pizza, or mini pizzas or other things with the dough or pepperoni.  The canned dough is used for a lot of recipes.

one year I waited until the day before, and had to run around to different stores to find the stuff I needed.

One Halloween I found this video showing how to use the dough to make Skull Pizza Pockets.

Never go to a grocery store on Superbowl Sunday.

Never go to a grocery store on Superbowl Sunday.

I often go while the game is on. It's so peaceful and quiet. I go to other stores too but they often have big TVs blaring the game for the employees. This year, not many people will be watching in Denver because the Broncos lost the AFC championship last week by a small margin. Our quarterback broke his ankle and a substitute had to come in. There has been a silver lining that I've really enjoyed. Grocery stores had loaded up on food and now there are big sales. I got two boxes of taquitos (BOGO) that will last me until spring.
