Lili desperately waits for a phone call from Loïc but her brother shows no sign of life. It is not long before Lili falls into depression and her condition quickly deteriorates. She won't eat anymore and is about to die when, at long last, a postcard written and sent by Loïc brings her back to life....

IMDB: This colorful outdoor story is great entertainment and has excellent work by Stewart Granger and Deborah Kerr. The spare plot involves a search for a woman's missing husband which leads eventually to a diamond mine in a distant province. The safari braves assorted dangers along the way from wild animals and savage tribesmen, and the film captures the beautiful vistas of the African plains and exotic animals in their natural habitat. Richard Carlson is along as a member of the safari, as are two natives who provide fine characterizations as the plot unfolds. This picture doesn't have a music score but does have instead the drums and chants of the tribesmen that provide an authentic accompaniment to the film. Robert Surtees received an Academy Award for his excellent cinematography for this movie.

IMDb:  Private investigator Phillip Marlowe recounts one of his recent cases, which he has named The Lady in the Lake. Just prior to Christmas, he is secretly hired by Adrienne Fromsett, the tough talking second in command at Kingsby Publishing, to find Chrystal Kingsby, the wife of her boss Derace Kingsby. Chrystal has been missing for two months, and Derace, who believes for her own reasons has run off, just wants her to be left alone. But Adrienne knows that Chrystal has a boyfriend named Chris Lavery, the supposed reason for her running off. Marlowe believes Adrienne has ulterior motives for wanting Chrystal found, beyond her want to get Chrystal out of the way so that she can become Mrs. Derace Kingsby herself. Those ulterior motives may have something to do with the fact that everywhere Adrienne points him, people are either unhappy to see him, or he finds other people murdered. One of those murdered is a woman found in a lake near where the Kingsbys own a cabin. But what Marlowe learns is that to find Chrystal and discover the reasons for the additional murders, he has to dig through a complex web, which also includes the involvement of the police.

From IMDb:  Based on the real-life experiences of Ed Horman, this is the story of an American father of conservative background who comes to a South American country to search for his missing son, a journalist. Ed joins with his daughter-in-law Beth, who like her husband is politically polarized from the father, in prying through the bureaucracy and dangerous political intrigue in search of their son and husband. Little by little, the father comes to realize that his own beloved government is not telling him the truth.

IMDB: Olivia Grayne acts as a paid caregiver for her dowager aunt, Mrs. Bramson, who is stingy toward her niece. The two live in a house in the English woods with Dora and Emily, the household domestics. Into their lives and house comes Danny, Dora's fiancé, who is a simple, common man. Despite Dora admitting that she doesn't know that much about Danny, Mrs. Bramson, who prides herself on being a good judge of character, hires Danny to be her live-in personal attendant. Olivia is suspicious but at the same time attracted to the mysterious man. Olivia's suspicions are aroused when she finds among his possessions a photograph of a local woman who has been missing for the past two weeks and was thought to be murdered. Olivia, who fears Danny of being a murderer, continually comes back to to face him anyway.
