==comment==from IMDb==Actor Will Sampson, probably the greatest Native American actor to date, stars as Fish Hawk, the best of the few leads roles of his all too short career. Fish Hawk is a Cherokee living in the Ozarks, suffering from alcoholism after the death of his family, who works as a part time hunter. He gains clarity after the accidental killing of his best friend, his hunting dog. He temporarily takes residence with a nearby family and befriends the son, who Fish Hawk later saves from a sick wild pig. Highly superior to other backwoods dramas such as "Where the Red Fern Grows," this film is strangely neglected and is deserving of cult status.
Will Sampson also played "The Chief" in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."
