<FADE IN>
SCENE: A STATE PRISON VISITING ROOM, MOSTLY EMPTY.
DUSTY IS WAITING AT A TABLE AS
PRISON GUARDS WALK WINSTON TO THE TABLE.
WINSTON WAITS UNTIL THE GUARDS HAVE LEFT EARSHOT.
WINSTON:
Well, Donovan. What do you have for me?
DUSTY FUMBLES IN HIS POCKET AND PULLS OUT
A PAPER AND PEN.
WINSTON CHUCKLES:
They let you bring that in here?
DUSTY:
I didn't tell them I had it.
WINSTON LAUGHS:
What is this I'm signing?
A Parental Consent form for Noah
to receive psychological treatment?
WINSTON LOOKS AT DUSTY CONFUSED:
For what?
My son's not crazy!
DUSTY POINTS TO A LOWER PARAGRAPH.
WINSTON READS IT OUT LOUD:
Sexually aberrant behavior?
WINSTON THINKS:
Hmmm, that may actually work.
DUSTY:
I can't think of a better way to
keep Luke and Noah separate.
And if we can get the psychologist
to determine that Luke and Noah's
relationship is an unhealthy one,
the law may be on your side.
WINSTON CHUCKLES TO HIMSELF:
Well, that sounds promising.
DUSTY:
It'll take a bit more money.
WINSTON NODS, SIGNING THE PAPER WITH GLEE:
We'll be in touch.
WINSTON STANDS UP AND WALKS BACK TO THE GUARDS,
LAUGHING GLEEFULLY.
DUSTY WATCHES HIM LEAVE,
A SERIOUS LOOK ON HIS FACE.

SCENE: THE LAKEVIEW HOTEL RESTAURANT.
LILY, LUKE, LUCINDA AND NOAH ARE SITTING AT THE TABLE,
EATING DINNER.
LILY CLINKS HER KNIFE AGAINST HER WINE GLASS.
LILY:
And now, I would like to propose a toast.
To Noah.
NOAH (SHOCKED):
Why me?
LUKE LOOKS AT HIM WITH A WARM GAZE:
Shhhhh!
LILY SMILES AT NOAH:
You're not supposed to interrupt a toast.
It's rude.
NOAH (SHEEPISHLY):
Oh sorry.
LUKE PUTS AN ARM AROUND NOAH AND LEANS AGAINST HIM, SMILING.
LILY:
To Noah.
For loving my son.
For healing my son.
For saving my daughter.
For being Noah.
LUKE, LILY, AND LUCINDA CLINK GLASSES.
LUKE CLINKS HIS GLASS WITH NOAH'S.
LILY (CONT'D):
And congratulations are in order as well.
NOAH:
Congratulations?
LILY:
The program director at WOAK
has agreed to take you on as her assistant.
NOAH IS FLABBERGASTED:
Are you serious?!!
That's the most awesome thing I've heard!
LUKE IS HAPPY TO SEE NOAH EXCITED:
Isn't my mom great?!
NOAH NODS:
Absolutely.
NOAH TURNS TO LILY:
When do I start?
LILY:
Thursday, if that's okay with you.
NOAH:
Yeah, that's fine!
I'll have to change some things around,
but it won't be too much of a deal.
LILY NODS:
That's good to hear.
I do have to ask you one small favor in return.
NOAH:
What's that?
LILY:
Try to tone it down a bit with Luke.
I mean, when you're in public.
In private, you can do that mesmerizing
look thing all you want.
LUKE GLARES AT LILY.
NOAH:
I didn't realize it was bothering you...
I guess I can try.
LILY:
It's not that I don't appreciate
how much you care for one another.
It's just so.... tangible.
LUCINDA:
Lily!
I said it would fade over time.
Don't try to break it!
LILY:
Mother.
If Colonel Mayer can reach them even from prison,
I want them to be on their toes and aware
of whats going around them... not gazing
infinitely into each other's eyes.
NOAH THINKS ABOUT THIS FOR A MINUTE.
I think you're right, Mrs. Snyder. I-
LILY (INTERRUPTING):
Oh for crying out loud, call me Mom.
“Mrs. Snyder” makes me feel so old.
NOAH SWALLOWS AND SMILES SADLY:
Alright... Mom.
I think I can do that.
But what I was going to say...
NOAH PAUSES.
NOAH (CONT'D):
I think you're right.
We need to be more aware of
what's going on around us.
LUKE:
But-
NOAH LOOKS OVER AT LUKE.
NOAH (SOFTLY):
Luke... my father is a very dangerous and
secretive man. He had every intention of
killing you on that fishing trip... I
can't let – No I won't let that happen
again.
LUKE LEANS AGAINST NOAH:
I just... don't want to lose you
now that I've found you all over again.
NOAH:
You won't... I'll make sure of that.
LUKE:
Okay. What do I have to do?
<FADE OUT>
<COMMERCIAL>
<FADE IN>
NOAH:
Just be yourself, Luke.
Your wonderful, beautiful self.
And don't even let me get in the way of that.
LUKE SMILES:
I think I can do that.
NOAH:
How did the poet put it:
“This above all, to thine own self be true?”
LUKE:
Shakespeare again.
I thought you weren't the literary type.
NOAH:
Well theater's a little different for me.
I can understand it a bit better.
LUCINDA SIGHS:
Well, I'm sorry that we had to ask you to do that.
But I think you are making the right decision.
LILY:
It is the right decision.
NOAH AND LUKE NOD.
LUKE:
For now anyway.
We'll still have our moments, Noah.
I plan to be with you every way I can.
NOAH LOOKS INTO LUKE'S EYES:
And you'll be welcome every time.
LUKE SMILES.
<TRANSITION>
SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE
LUKE AND NOAH ENTER A DARK KITCHEN.
LUKE FLIPS ON THE SWITCH:
Dad, Faith, Grandma?
NOAH:
Natalie?
THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE IS EERILY QUIET.
LUKE:
Maybe they've gone out.
NOAH:
I'll look around a bit.
Maybe they're out in the barn.
LUKE SHAKES HIS HEAD:
No, the light wasn't on out there.
NOAH:
Do you have a flashlight?
LUKE OPENS A DRAWER AND HANDS NOAH A LARGE YELLOW FLASHLIGHT.
NOAH:
Stay here, Luke.
LUKE (EXASPERATED):
Noah... come on!
NOAH LOOKS AT LUKE STERNLY:
I'm serious.
Stay here and turn on all the lights.
LUKE IS PENSIVE:
You think something's wrong?
NOAH SHAKES HIS HEAD:
I don't know, Luke.

SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE.
LUKE IS ALONE IN THE KITCHEN. HE PULLS OUT HIS CELLPHONE
AND PUSHES A BUTTON.
LUKE:
Mom? We made it home, but...
<PAUSE>
LUKE:
Mom... are you there?
LUKE LOOKS AT HIS CELLPHONE.
HE HANGS UP.. PRESSES ANOTHER BUTTON.
LUKE:
Dad?! Dad, where are you?!
A SUDDEN FLASH OF LIGHTNING AND CRACK OF THUNDER
AND THE FARMHOUSE GOES DARK AGAIN.
<TRANSITION>
SCENE: THE LAKEVIEW HOTEL
LILY AND LUCINDA ARE ENJOYING DESERT AND COFFEE.
LILY IS ON HER CELLPHONE. SHE PUTS IT DOWN.
LILY:
Well that was Luke.
He and Noah are back at the farmhouse, but
we suddenly lost connection.
LUCINDA:
It's this lightning storm.
LILY:
Lightning storm?
LUCINDA:
Oh where have you been, Lily?
It was all over the news today.
Supposed to be a bad one.
LILY:
I didn't know....
A SUDDEN FLASH OF LIGHTNING AND CRACK OF THUNDER RATTLE THE WINDOWS.
THE LIGHTS FLICKER BUT REMAIN STEADY.
LILY:
I need to make sure that
the backup generator is working.
LUCINDA:
I already had security check on that before I sat down.
LILY LOOKS AT LUCINDA THANKFULLY:
Oh thank you for that.
A PITTER PATTER AGAINST THE WINDOWS
LILY:
I thought it was just supposed to be an
electrical storm?
LUCINDA:
...with a slight chance of precipitation.
LILY:
It's freezing out there, mother.
That means hail!

SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE.
LUKE IS LIGHTING CANDLES AROUND THE KITCHEN.
ANOTHER CRACK OF THUNDER AND LIGHTNING.
A PITTER PATTER AGAINST THE WINDOW
AND THE SOUND OF GLASS BREAKING FROM THE OTHER ROOM.
LUKE GRABS A CANDLE AND CHECKS THE OTHER ROOM.
HE RETURNS IN A MOMENT, CARRYING THE REMNANTS OF A GLASS VASE.
NOAH RUSHES INTO THE FARMHOUSE, HIS HAIR COVERED IN
SMALL PIECES OF ICE.
NOAH (TENSE):
Are you okay, Luke?
LUKE (LOOKS UP):
Yeah, I'm fine.
Anyone out there?
NOAH SHAKES HIS HEAD:
No sign of anyone.
LUKE:
Hey does your cellphone work?
Mine's out.
NOAH TAKES OUT HIS PHONE. LOOKS AT IT.
SHAKES HIS HEAD.
NOAH:
No. What about the landline?
LUKE:
Oh, good idea.
But who would we call?
NOAH:
We can at least call the Lakeview.
Let your mom know we're okay.
LUKE:
Okay.
LUKE HEADS TO THE PHONE IN THE KITCHEN.
PICKS UP THE RECEIVER.
ANOTHER FLASH OF LIGHTNING AND PEAL OF THUNDER.
LUKE:
Huh...
NOAH LOOKS UP:
What is it?
LUKE:
Well I had a signal, but that last
lightning strike must have hit something.
NOAH GRABS A KITCHEN TOWEL AND TRIES
TO GET THE ICE OUT OF THIS HAIR.
NOAH:
What about an emergency radio?
LUKE:
A what?
NOAH:
We always had one on the bases.
LUKE:
Oh... I don't think we have one.
NOAH:
So what do we do now?
LUKE SHRUGS:
We wait.

injest:
its getting SCARY!!
(hey are you going to incorporate the real episodes with your story line??)
Daniel:
I can try, Jess, but sometimes the real episodes take it in a completely different direction than I want to go... :)

SCENE: THE LAKEVIEW LOBBY.
LILY AND LUCINDA ARE WATCHING THE STORM OUTSIDE.
A FLASH OF LIGHTNING AND PEAL OF THUNDER.
THE BUILDING SHAKES A LITTLE.
LILY (WORRIED):
I hope Luke and Noah are okay.
LUCINDA:
Well that Noah has a head on his shoulders,
they'll be fine.
LILY NODS:
I'm going to call Margo and see if she can't send someone to check
on them.
LILY GRABS THE PHONE AND QUICKLY DIALS.
<TRANSITION>
SCENE: THE OAKDALE POLICE STATION
MARGO PICKS UP THE PHONE:
Captain -
Oh, hello Lily.
LILY:
Margo, you all are probably
busy on a night like tonight.
MARGO:
Yes, we are. Have several calls
of power outs, some burglary pranks.
Either that or people are getting
scared of their own shadows.
LILY:
Margo, I have a favor to ask.
Can you send someone to check on the boys?
They're at the farm.
MARGO:
Alright, I'll see what I can do.
MARGO HANGS UP THE PHONE.
A FLASH OF LIGHTNING AND PEAL OF THUNDER.
THE LIGHTS FLICKER.
MARGO STICKS HER HEAD OUT THE DOOR:
Get that backup generator on, boys!

SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE PORCH
LUKE AND NOAH ARE NESTLED AGAINST EACH OTHER ON THE SOFA.
CANDLES ARE ON EVERY FLAT SURFACE.
THE PITTER PATTER OF HAIL ON THE ROOF AND SCREEN WINDOWS.
NOAH:
See. This is romantic.
LUKE BREATHES A RAGGED, FROSTY BREATH AND
RUBS HIS HANDS TOGETHER:
A little cold.
NOAH REACHES OUT AND PUTS LUKE'S HANDS
BETWEEN HIS OWN, LOOKING INTO LUKE'S EYES:
I kind of like it when you're cold.
LUKE SMILES AT NOAH,
THEN LOOKS BACK OUT:
It's dark out there.
I'm not used to it being so dark.
Usually there's some type of light.
NOAH:
It's okay, Luke.
LUKE:
I hope you're right.
Hey, how were the horses doing the last
time you checked on them?
NOAH:
They seemed to be alright... a little
skittish from the storm, I guess.
LUKE:
I just wish I knew where Dad and Grandma went.
NOAH:
They'll be here soon enough.
LUKE NODS.
A FLASH OF LIGHTNING – NO THUNDER.
LUKE IS SUDDENLY ALERT, LOOKING OUT.
HE STANDS UP.
LUKE SHOUTS OUT:
Hello?
NOAH:
Luke - what is it?
LUKE:
There's someone out there.
In that last lightning flash I was
sure I saw someone.
NOAH:
Where?
LUKE:
Out in the yard, by the trees.
NOAH GRABS HIS FLASHLIGHT AND HEADS OUT INTO THE YARD.
<TRANSITION>
SCENE: THE LAKEVIEW LOBBY.
LILY AND LUCINDA ARE SITTING ON CHAIRS.
LILY:
What are you thinking about, Mother?
LUCINDA:
Only that Dusty was right about the boys being threatened.
LILY:
Dusty told you the boys would be threatened?
LUCINDA:
He said he had a strong feeling.
I told him to take it to the police
if he felt that strongly about it.
LILY:
I don't think Dusty likes dealing with
the police.
LUCINDA:
No, I suppose not.
But still, makes you wonder,
doesn't it?
LILY:
What? About Dusty?
I wouldn't be surprised.
He has a great nose for trouble.
LUCINDA:
That sounds like something
that could be useful sometimes.
LILY:
Well he's taken a paternal
interest in Noah. I think he'll
tell him what he needs to know.
LUCINDA:
I don't think he will.
He seemed rather disconnected
from Noah the last time I talked to him.
LILY:
Really?
That's so odd.
Noah and Dusty seemed to have a good connection.

SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE YARD
NOAH IS LOOKING AROUND WITH A FLASHLIGHT.
HE YELLS BACK TO THE PORCH:
Luke, I can't find anyone out-
THE LIGHT FROM HIS FLASHLIGHT SUDDENLY SHOWS
A POLICE OFFICER IN UNIFORM.
OFFICER TRENTON:
Officer Trenton. Are you Luke or Noah?
NOAH:
I'm Noah... Luke's on the porch.
But we don't know where the Snyders are,
except Lily. She's at the Lakeview.
OFFICER TRENTON NODS.
HE PULLS OUT A FLASHLIGHT AND SWEEPS IT
AROUND A FEW TIMES AT HEAD LEVEL.
OFFICER TRENTON:
What are you looking for out here?
NOAH:
Luke said he thought he saw someone.
I guess it was you.
OFFICER TRENTON SHAKES HIS HEAD:
I just got here.
<OMINOUS MUSIC>
<TRANSITION>
SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE PORCH
NOAH AND OFFICER TRENTON ENTER.
NOAH:
Luke?
OFFICER TRENTON LOOKS AROUND.
LUKE IS NOWHERE IN SIGHT.
NOAH:
Well he was here a minute ago.
Maybe he went inside for something.
NOAH TAKES HIS FLASHLIGHT INTO THE HOUSE.
NOAH:
Luke?!
THE HOUSE IS EERILY SILENT.
NOAH RETURNS TO THE PORCH.
OFFICER TRENTON LOOKS AT HIM.
OFFICER TRENTON:
Are you sure there's no one else on the property?
NOAH SHRUGS:
We didn't see anyone.
Which is really weird.
Normally, someone's here.
OFFICER TRENTON:
Do you mind if I have a look around?
NOAH:
Go ahead.
If you see Luke, can you let him know
I'm looking for him?
OFFICER TRENTON NODS THEN HEADS INTO THE HOUSE.

<FADE IN>
SCENE: THE LAKEVIEW HOTEL LOBBY
LILY AND LUCINDA ARE STILL SITTING.
LILY:
So? So what if Dusty was able
to guess that Colonel Mayer might
threaten them again.
It just shows how well he knows
the criminal mind.
LUCINDA:
And all I'm saying is
that's a voice we might
not want to shut out completely.
If someone can tell us what might be
going on, why silence him?
LILY:
How do we know he wasn't the
one planning to threaten them
in the first place?
It could be him, you know,
pretending to be Noah's father.
LUCINDA (IMPATIENT):
And why would he do that?
LILY:
I don't know,
to get attention, maybe.
Or perhaps to throw attention off himself.
Dusty is a full collection of opposites.
LUCINDA SIGHS, EXASPERATED.
LUCINDA:
Lily, I don't know how to
get through to you on this,
so I'm going to be silent for now.
But I'd like you to at least think
about it.
Until he tried to kidnap you,
I think we could trust Dusty
a good 75% of the time,
and I'm not sure what he was thinking
when he tried to kidnap you, but
maybe he's gone back to the way
he was before.
LILY:
Mother, that's not the point.
He was already changing.
That's one of the reasons I fell
out of love with him.
LILY NODS:
I didn't want to bring it up,
because... I don't quite get what
he's trying to do.
LUCINDA SHAKES HER HEAD:
Does anyone?
<TRANSITION>
SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE PORCH
NOAH IS PACING BACK AND FORTH, OBVIOUSLY WORRIED.
A FLASH OF LIGHTNING WITH NO THUNDER.
NOAH STOPS PACING AND LOOKS OUTSIDE.
NOAH:
Luke? Get in here!
LUKE RUNS ONTO THE PORCH,
HIS HAIR COVERED WITH ICE.
NOAH (ANGRY):
Why did you leave?
It was safer for you here...
LUKE IS SHIVERING:
There... was someone out there.
After you left... I saw them closer.
I went out to see if it was dad.
NOAH (A LITTLE CALMER):
Was it?
LUKE:
No.... It was someone else.
LUKE SHIVERS, HIS EYES WIDE
IN THE FREEZING COLD.
NOAH RUSHES OVER TO HIM AND TAKES HIM IN HIS ARMS.
NOAH:
Luke! Luke, what happened out there?
Who was it?
LUKE:
I-I don't know.
I never saw him before.
NOAH:
Did you get a good look at him?
LUKE SHAKES HIS HEAD.
LUKE:
No, I came back in as soon as I
realized it was some stranger.
NOAH:
It'll be alright, we'll tell Officer Trenton.
LUKE:
Officer-?
OFFICER TRENTON ENTERS FROM THE HOUSE.
OFFICER TRENTON:
Your phone line's dead?
LUKE:
Yeah, there was a lightning strike or something...
OFFICER TRENTON:
Your line's down then...
I have to go out to my car, radio in to HQ.
NOAH:
Officer Trenton, Luke saw someone out there.
He said he's never seen him before.
OFFICER TRENTON:
Were you expecting someone?
LUKE:
No. He's not supposed to be here.
OFFICER TRENTON:
You got a good look at him?
LUKE SHAKES HIS HEAD:
Taller than me, dark hair, dark eyes.
He was wearing all black.
OFFICER TRENTON:
I'll see if I can find him. Which way did he go?
LUKE:
Around the barn.
OFFICER TRENTON EXITS.
NOAH:
Luke, is there something you're not telling me?
LUKE SHAKES HIS HEAD.
No, Noah. You know everything I do.
NOAH:
Maybe just a tiny detail that you forgot to mention?
LUKE:
No.
NOAH IS UPSET WITH LUKE:
Did he threaten you?!!
LUKE LOOKS UP TO NOAH,
A WILD EXPRESSION IN HIS EYES.
LUKE:
He didn't-didn't really have to.

Not sure if it's appropriate to post it here because what I'm posting in below concerns Van only and not about ATWT, Daniel, feel free to delete it if you think it is not.
Here is a clip about the play Van Hansis is participating in currently - Die Mommie Die, it mainly talks about Charles Busch but there are also glimpses of Van in it:
