LUKE:
Thanks.
NOAH LOOKS INTO LUKE'S EYES.
NOAH (SOFTLY):
You're welcome...
LUKE SMILES, SHAKING HIS HEAD IN HUMOROUS DISBELIEF:
Noah, if you're trying to start something,
you're heading in the right direction.
NOAH GRINS BACK:
I know.
Ummm... did you finish your work?
LUKE:
The poetry torture's done.
The paper – can wait until tomorrow.

So I'm free for whatever.

LILY:
Are you sure you heard Noah say that
he was leaving?
DUSTY:
Without a doubt.
I can't say that I blame him much.
Luke must be such a painful
reminder of everything he's lost.
LILY:
Don't say things like that, Dusty!
DUSTY:
I'm just trying to look out for the boy.
Both of them.
LILY:
Do you think I should try
to call Holden?
DUSTY THINKS FOR A MINUTE:
No. I don't think
he'd understand.
I'll take care of things, Lily.

<FADE IN>
LILY:
How? How can you take care
of things, Dusty?
DUSTY SHRUGS:
I could talk to the boys, Luke or Noah.
Try to get them to understand.
Or maybe just help Noah out
until he's free of this nightmare.
LILY:
No-no, Dusty. I'll talk to Luke.
Somehow. If you want to help Noah
though, thats fine.
DUSTY NODS AND PICKS UP A DISCARDED
BOUQUET OF FLOWERS.
LILY:
Just leave them there. I'll take them.
DUSTY SMILES AND TURNS TO LEAVE.
HE TURNS AROUND THE CORNER IN THE HALLWAY
AND PAUSES, WAITING.
LILY GRABS OUT HER CELLPHONE AND HITS A BUTTON.

LILY:
Oh no... Holden!
HOLDEN:
What's wrong, Lily?
LILY:
Keep Noah away from Luke. I-
HOLDEN (INTERRUPTING):
Lily.... It's too late for that.
LILY:
Oh god, no... poor Luke.
HOLDEN (CONFUSED):
Is something going on?
What's the problem?
LILY:
I- I don't... I'm
not sure, Holden. I'm
working on it...
I'll talk to you later.
HOLDEN:
Okay. Calm down.
There's no problem here.
LILY HANGS UP THE PHONE,
NEAR TEARS.
LILY:
Oh, Holden, you were right all along.

LUKE:
A bit.
NOAH SITS DOWN NEXT TO LUKE AND PULLS HIM NEXT TO HIM,
WRAPPING HIS ARMS AROUND HIM.
NOAH:
So what should we do with
all this free time?
LUKE:
I don't know.
What do you wanna do?
NOAH CHUCKLES:
Well there are a thousand
things I'd like to do,
but none of them are really
possible right now.
LUKE WRAPS HIS ARMS AROUND NOAH SO THEY ARE EMBRACING.
LUKE SMILES AS HE LEANS AGAINST NOAH'S CHEST
LUKE:
I know the feeling.
NOAH THINKS FOR A MOMENT.
NOAH (EMOTIONALLY):
Luke, I don't think I've told you before.
But when we're like this...
when we're together
I feel... I don't know... complete.
LUKE (SOFTLY):
No, you've never told me that before,
but I've felt it.
NOAH:
It's like every part of me
that's empty is suddenly filled up.
How did I survive without you?
LUKE CHUCKLES:
Oh no, you've got it bad.
NOAH HALF-LAUGHS AND LOOKS DOWN AT LUKE:
You too?
LUKE CHUCKLES:
Yep, me too.
LUKE'S VOICE SOFTENS.
LUKE (CONT'D):
There's just one thing that
could make it more complete.
LUKE LEANS TOWARD NOAH AND THEY KISS PASSIONATELY,
GRADUALLY TILTING OFF CAMERA AS NOAH
LEANS BACK AND PULLS LUKE WITH HIM.

Hey guys. I'm getting kind of hungry.
What do you all say we go out
for Italian.
LUKE AND NOAH MOVE APART QUICKLY.
HOLDEN SIGHS:
You don't have to keep doing that, guys.
LUKE:
What, the kissing?
That's kinda-
HOLDEN (INTERRUPTING):
No, the pulling apart.
The kissing I've gotten used to.
And it's what me and Lily used
to do out here all the time,
so its a perfect place for it,
if you ask me.
NOAH (CONFUSED):
So you don't mind?
HOLDEN:
I don't, No.
Other people might but not me.
And I'm afraid if you jerk apart
like that you're going to hurt each other.
NOAH (UNDERSTANDING):
Oh.
LUKE:
So you said something
about Italian?
NOAH:
I'm with Luke on that.
I'm starving.
HOLDEN SMILES:
Let's go then.

LILY:
Until the divorce is final, yes.
I'd like to file a
harassment suit and a restraining
order.
THE DESK SERGEANT GRABS SOME PAPERS
FROM A FILING CABINET.
DESK SERGEANT:
Against Holden?
LILY:
No.

I can't BELIEVE THAT CRAP!!
(loved the couch scene though....very nice!! and Holden is so sweet to say that!)
and how the hell Lily think she gonna get a restraining order!!?? on WHO...cause if she thinks for ONE minute that she can get one on Noah after all he has done for them!!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Daniel:
Sorry, Jess. With all the excitement of that storm a-starting to brew... there wasn't much time for lovey-dove.

SCENE: THE OAKDALE POLICE STATION
THE DESK SERGEANT LOOKS AT LILY CONFUSED,
LILY LOOKS COLDLY BACK.
DESK SERGEANT:
Who do you wish to file the harassment suit
against?
LILY (ICY):
Noah Meyer.
DESK SERGEANT BLANCHES:
Noah? Are you sure?
LILY BECOMES ANGRY:
Yes. N-O-A-H-M-E-Y-E-R.
Write it down!
THE DESK SERGEANT LOOKS CONFUSED:
Let me get the chief for you, Mrs. Snyder.
She'll handle your suit.
DESK SERGEANT LEAVES AND RETURNS WITH CAPTAIN MARGO.
MARGO:
Come on in my office, Lily.
We'll get this sorted out.
LILY:
There's nothing to sort out.
MARGO:
I'm handling your case personally.
LILY SIGHS AND FINALLY FOLLOWS MARGO
INTO HER OFFICE.
MARGO SHUTS THE DOOR.
MARGO:
What are you trying to do here, Lily?

<FADE IN>
MARGO:
Who has Noah harassed?
The last I heard, he was practically
a perfect gentleman.
Even saved a little girl's life.
LILY:
You don't understand.
He's going to hurt Luke.
MARGO SIGHS:
Everybody gets hurt at some time.
Why do you think you can stop it?
LILY:
Just file my suit! I want a restraining
order against him! I want him to
stay away from my son!
MARGO:
Lily, think about this!
I stood here and watched
Luke get up out of a wheelchair
because he loves the young man
you're trying to keep him from.
If you do this, you'll be hurting Luke
more than Noah ever could!
LILY:
If you don't get this done for me,
I can make certain you won't be in this office
for very long. Then I can get
someone who will!
MARGO SIGHS AND SHAKES HER HEAD.
SHE OPENS THE DOOR AND LEANS OUT.
MARGO (DEFEATED):
Greyson, fill out the paperwork on
Noah Meyer. We don't really have a choice.
A citizen's filed a complaint,
and we have to research it at least.
<TRANSITION>
SCENE: A FANCY ITALIAN RESTAURANT
A HOST IS WAITING ON CUSTOMERS AT A PODIUM.
HOLDEN, NOAH, AND LUKE ENTER.
HOLDEN SMILES:
Been here yet, Noah?
NOAH:
Not that I can remember, Mr. Snyder.
It looks a little beyond my price range.
HOLDEN CHUCKLES:
Well don't worry about that tonight.
You can have anything on the menu.
I'm paying.
LUKE IS SURPRISED:
Dad, you're in a really good mood.
HOLDEN:
Am I? I guess so.
Why not?
The lame have walked.
The blind have seen.
And the drowned were recovered.
LUKE SHAKES HIS HEAD IN MISERY
LUKE:
Don't wax poetic on me, Dad.
You're not that good at it.
HOLDEN LAUGHS:
Sorry.
NOAH:
He's got a point though.
Its been pretty incredible the past few weeks.
No, make that the whole past month.
HOST:
Your table is ready, Mr. Snyder.
<FADE OUT>
<COMMERCIAL>
<FADE IN>
SCENE: THE OAKDALE POLICE STATION.
LILY (VENEMOUS):
And what about my restraining order?
MARGO:
You'll have to wait for a judge to get you that.
I've got no control over that part.
LILY SHRUGS:
Fine, give me the papers.
I'll get them signed by Judge Ashcroft.
MARGO:
It's 8:00 at night, Lily.
Ashcroft's gone for the day.
LILY:
I know where he lives.
MARGO SHAKES HER HEAD AGAIN:
Fine.
Greyson, get a restraining order ready.
Make sure the DA approves the wording.
Is 100 yards sufficient, Lily?
LILY:
That will be fine.
MARGO:
And give the restraining order to Lily.
THE DESK SERGEANT:
Ma'am?
MARGO:
We're bending the rules a little bit,
but Lily's quite insistent on getting
this done as soon as possible.
THE DESK SERGEANT NODS SLOWLY:
You're sure Internal won't get us on this?
MARGO:
I can handle them.
DESK SERGEANT:
Yes ma'am.
<TRANSITION>
HOLDEN, NOAH, AND LUKE ARE SITTING AT A TABLE.
A WAITER BRINGS GLASSES OF WATER AND MENUS.
LUKE GRINNING:
They make the best seafood lasagna here.
You should try it, Noah.
NOAH LOOKS OVER AT LUKE AND SMILES.
What are you so excited about?
LUKE:
It feels like another date!
NOAH LAUGHS:
Yeah, it kinda does.
HOLDEN WINKS AT THEM:
Just think of me as a chaperone.
LUKE AND NOAH BOTH CHUCKLE.
LUKE SUDDENLY REMEMBERS SOMETHING, LOOKS AT HOLDEN.
LUKE:
Oh Dad, got a call from Mom this afternoon,
but my phone went dead. Tried to call
her on Noah's but she didn't answer.
Did she ever get a hold of you?
HOLDEN:
Yeah, she called me for a bit.
Sounded worried about something, but
I couldn't get her to tell me what it was.
LUKE:
She was worried?
NOAH:
I hope everything's okay.
LUKE NODS IN AGREEMENT.
HOLDEN SHRUGS THE WORRY ASIDE:
I'm sure there's nothing to worry about.
Your mother's just getting upset.
You know how mothers are.
NOAH (SADLY):
Ummm, no.
LUKE REACHES OVER AND RUBS NOAH'S SHOULDER,
CARESSES HIS CHEEK.
LUKE TURNS BACK TO HOLDEN:
Can I borrow your phone, Dad?
Maybe I can get a hold of her.
HOLDEN:
Sure.
HOLDEN HANDS LUKE HIS CELLPHONE.
LUKE PRESSES A FEW BUTTONS AND LIFTS
THE PHONE TO HIS EAR.

SCENE: THE OAKDALE POLICE STATION
MARGO CLOSES THE DOOR AGAIN:
Lily, why are you doing this?
Maybe there's some misunderstanding?
LILY:
I don't think there is.
Not this time.
I misunderstood before.
I thought Noah cared for Luke.
MARGO:
What makes you think he doesn't?
LILY SHAKES HER HEAD:
Call it a mother's intuition.
MARGO:
I'll go check on the paperwork. You wait here.
MARGO LEAVES, CLOSES THE DOOR AGAIN.
LILY'S CELLPHONE RINGS.
SHE PICKS IT UP, LOOKS AT IT AND ANSWERS.
<TRANSITION>
SCENE: THE FANCY ITALIAN RESTAURANT
LUKE:
Mom! I finally got a hold of you.
LILY:
Luke! Oh god... you're alright?
LUKE LAUGHS:
Yeah, I'm fine.
Why would you think otherwise?
LILY:
Ahh, no reason.
Are you at the farm?
LUKE:
No. Dad took us out to eat.
We're at Giussepe's or however its pronounced.
LILY:
Who else is there with you?
LUKE:
Just Noah. You wanna talk to him?
LILY:
No.... wait, yes.
LUKE PASSES THE PHONE TO NOAH.
NOAH:
Mrs. Snyder. We heard you were
worried about something.
LILY (COLDLY):
I know what you're planning to do, Noah.
And I'll tell you now. You won't hurt him that way!
NOAH (CONFUSED):
Mrs. Snyder? I don't -
LILY HANGS UP THE PHONE.
NOAH:
Mrs. Snyder!
NOAH HANDS THE PHONE BACK TO HOLDEN.
NOAH (CONT'D):
I think she hung up?
NOAH IS OBVIOUSLY DISTRESSED ABOUT SOMETHING.
LUKE NOTICES NOAH'S DISTRESS.
What did she say to you?
NOAH (CONFLICTED):
I'm not sure... I think
she was accusing me of something.
LUKE PASSES A WORRIED GLANCE TO HOLDEN:
Dad? You know anything about that?
HOLDEN SHAKES HIS HEAD, CONFUSED AS LUKE AND NOAH.

SCENE: THE OAKDALE POLICE STATION
MARGO REENTERS THE ROOM:
Your papers are ready, Lily.
Remember the restraining order has
to be signed by the judge and then
stamped with the proper seals before
it goes into effect.
MARGO SIGHS:
Why am I telling you that?
I should have just kept my mouth
shut instead of helping you on this
brutal scheme of yours.
LILY:
That's alright, Margo.
You're doing the right thing.
MARGO:
As for the harassment suit, we'll have to wait
until tomorrow to enforce that one. We don't know
where the boy is right now.
LILY:
I can tell you. He's over at Giuseppe's.
MARGO (COMPLETELY DISTRAUGHT)
Lily! Why are you doing this
to your own son?
LILY:
I'm protecting him!
MARGO OPENS THE DOOR AGAIN (DEFEATED):
Greyson, get a squad car ready.
We have a lead on the Meyer kid.
DESK SERGEANT:
Yes ma'am.

SCENE: THE ITALIAN RESTAURANT
THE WAITER IS DELIVERING THEIR FOOD.
NOAH (CHUCKLES):
I can't believe I let you talk
me into that seafood lasagna, Luke.
LUKE:
Hey, what you won't eat, I will.
LUKE LEANS OVER CLOSER TO NOAH
AND LOWERS HIS VOICE.
LUKE (CONT'D):
But it's good to try new things.
NOAH RAISES HIS EYEBROWS:
I'll have to remember that.
HOLDEN:
Alright you two...
quit making googly eyes
at each other across the dinner table.
There's time enough for that later.
LUKE AND NOAH LAUGH AS THEY LOOK UP AT HOLDEN.
LUKE:
Sure thing, Dad.
We'll try to be good.
LUKE GRABS A FORK AND DIGS INTO HIS LASAGNA
WITH A MIXTURE OF HUMOR, GIDDINESS, AND EXCITEMENT.
NOAH IS HAVING AN EQUALLY FUN TIME JUST WATCHING LUKE.
HOLDEN SHAKES HIS HEAD BUT IS GENUINELY SMILING AT
LUKE AND NOAH.
<FADE OUT>
<END>
injest:
good lort that woman is WAY overreacting....or was there a bit of homophobia there before that she kept hidden?
hmmmm
I can see why Luke is feeling on top of the world....
boy is he gonna be FURIOUS with Lily!!
Daniel:
Hmm, well I think Lily is genuinely afraid that Noah's tried to deceive them all. And Dusty's little half-truth didn't sit well with her, as you might imagine.
