As the World Turns - Luke and Noah (No Videos)

<< < (16/29) > >>

Daniel:
Okay, this is probably the last of Dusty, Jess... Not this episode, but this arc. He's supposed to be leaving the show this month anyway. So might as well have him go out with a bang.

“AS THE WORLD TURNS”

TELEPLAY

<FADE IN>

SCENE: A STATE PRISON VISITOR'S ROOM.

A PRISON GUARD IS BEHIND A BARRED AREA, WITH A SMALL WINDOW
OVER A DESK. A NUMBER OF INMATES ARE SITTING AT TABLES WITH VISITING
FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

DUSTY ENTERS AND CHECKS IN WITH THE GUARD, SIGNING A CLIPBOARD.

WINSTON IS LED IN FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION BY TWO GUARDS,
WHO POINT AT DUSTY AND EXIT, LEAVING WINSTON.

WINSTON MOVES CAUTIOUSLY TO ONE OF THE TABLES AND DUSTY
JOINS HIM THERE. WINSTON LOOKS AROUND TO MAKE SURE
NOBODY'S EAVESDROPPING.

WINSTON:
What do you want?

DUSTY:
Colonel Meyer, so nice to see you again.
I hear you still want Noah away from Luke.

WINSTON (THROUGH GRITTED TEETH):
Yes, I do!

DUSTY LOOKS AWAY, AS THOUGH BORED:
I think I can accommodate you.
But I'll need money.

WINSTON LOOKS AROUND AND LOWERS HIS VOICE:
Money I can get you, but how
do I know I can trust you?

DUSTY:
You don't. But let's say
we have the same goals.
You want Noah away from Luke.
And I want Luke away from Noah.

WINSTON DOESN'T BELIEVE DUSTY:
Why?

DUSTY:
Let's just say I need a distraction in
the Snyder family until I can get what
I want.

WINSTON:
Alright. How much do you need?
A thousand?

DUSTY SMILES:
Let's start with five.

SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE.

HOLDEN IS HAVING BREAKFAST WITH FAITH AND NATALIE
AS EMMA CARRIES ETHAN TO THE TABLE.

THE SCREEN DOOR OPENS AND LILY, LUKE, AND NOAH ENTER.

HOLDEN:
Hey! How was the getaway.

NOAH:
It was great, Mr. Snyder!
It felt so good not to have to worry
about anything for a while.
Just really focus on the things that are important.

NOAH LOOKS BACK AT LUKE AT THE LAST PART, WITH
A HEARTBREAKING SMILE. LUKE SMILES BACK.

LILY SIGHS HUMOROUSLY:
There they go again!
Holden, how do you put up with these two?
They're always gazing at each other.

HOLDEN LAUGHS. FAITH IS OBVIOUSLY UPSET.

LUKE AND NOAH GO OVER TO THE TABLE.

LUKE:
Hey, we're not too late for breakfast!

LILY:
Luke, you ate before we left the Lakeview.

NOAH TURNS TO LILY:
Yeah, but that wasn't his grandmother's cooking.

LILY LAUGHS AND SHAKES HER HEAD.

EMMA SMILES:
Alright. Enough sweet-talking from you, young man.
You're going to get yourself in trouble with it one
of these days.

NOAH SMILES AND SHRUGS:
Probably.

LUKE:
So, Grandma, anything left for me?

FAITH GETS UP AND LEAVES THE TABLE:
I'm not hungry anymore, Grandma. Thanks.

FAITH EXITS TO THE STAIRWELL.

NATALIE LOOKS AFTER FAITH, WORRIED,
THEN TURNS TO NOAH:

NATALIE:
Come and eat something, Noah!
Granma always makes too much.
You can sit by me!

NOAH:
I am a little hungry still, actually.

NOAH SITS DOWN NEXT TO NATALIE AS EMMA GRABS ANOTHER
PLATE FOR HIM.

LUKE IS WORRIED ABOUT FAITH.
HE TURNS TO HOLDEN.

LUKE:
Dad, something wrong with Faith?
She seems... angry about something.

HOLDEN LOOKS AT LUKE THEN STARES
AT THE DOOR TO THE STAIRWELL.

<FADE IN>

HOLDEN LOOKS UP AT LUKE:
I'm not sure, Luke.
After breakfast why don't you ask her.
You know she's always had a
special connection with you.

LILY SMILES AT EVERYONE AS
SHE WALKS OVER TO THE TABLE.

LILY:
Natalie and Ethan!
It's good to see everyone again.
And I'll see you all tonight.

NOAH LOOKS UP:
You're leaving, Mrs. Snyder?

LILY LAUGHS LIGHTLY:
Oh yes, a hotelier's work is never done.
Have to head back to the Lakeview.
And then up to the station for a meeting
later on this afternoon.
Did you like working at WOAK, Noah?

NOAH:
Yeah. Well I really liked the
creative projects. The collating and filing -
not so much.

LILY:
I was just thinking... if you're staying around,
there's no reason you can't get some experience
working at the studio. I think one of our programs
could use a director's assistant.

NOAH IS COMPLETELY SURPRISED:
Oh wow – are you serious, Mrs. Snyder?

LILY:
Well, since you're not going to Northwestern
this semester, I thought I could offer
you something.

NOAH:
That would be great, if I could.

LILY LAUGHS:
Okay, Noah. Let me talk to my people.
And they'll get in touch with your people.

NOAH CHUCKLES.

LUKE WATCHES THE WHOLE EXCHANGE, SHAKING HIS HEAD AND SMILING.

<FADE OUT>

<COMMERCIAL>

<FADE IN>

LUKE:
What has gotten into them?

HOLDEN:
Your mother's found a new person to take care of.

LUKE:
Are you serious? That's awesome.

HOLDEN NODS:
Well it keeps her happy.

LUKE:
Yeah since Dusty stood her up on New Years, she's been
having a hard time.

HOLDEN:
Hey did you ever talk to Noah about that thing
you were worried about? Dusty snooping around?

LILY AND NOAH WERE LAUGHING IN THE BACKGROUND AT SOMETHING
NOAH SAID.

LILY:
Oh Noah. That's wonderful!

LILY LOOKS AT HER WATCH:
Oh. I have to go people!

LILY HUGS NATALIE, NOAH, EMMA, AND KISSES ETHAN ON THE TOP OF THE HEAD. SHE MAKES HER WAY OVER TO WHERE LUKE AND HOLDEN ARE STANDING AND HUGS LUKE.

LILY:
Gotta go, sweetie. Love you.

LUKE:
I love you too, Mom.

HOLDEN LOOKS ON, SMILING.

LILY:
And I'll come and get the girls and Ethan tonight, okay?

HOLDEN:
Sure thing.

LILY EXITS THROUGH THE SCREEN DOOR.

NOAH STANDS UP, FONDLY RUFFLES NATALIE'S HAIR AND
WALKS OVER TO WHERE LUKE AND HOLDEN ARE STANDING.

NOAH:
Everything's okay?

LUKE NODS:
Yeah... but there's something I need to talk to you
about.

NOAH SIGHS:
Sounds serious. Okay.

LUKE NODS AGAIN:
It is serious.
Something's been on my mind for a while.
And I need to bring it up.
Is it alright if Dad hears it too?

HOLDEN:
Let's go out on the porch, Luke.
Its a little more private.

<TRANSITION>

SCENE: THE SIDEWALK SHOPS OF OAKDALE

DUSTY IS WALKING AROUND, THINKING.
ALMOST PACING.

LUCINDA WALKS BY, CARRYING PACKAGES.

LUCINDA:
Dusty! How have you been?

DUSTY:
Not too good, really.
Worrying about Lily.

LUCINDA:
Has something happened?

DUSTY:
Not really. She ran
to the police station the
other night.

LUCINDA:
I heard about that.
She had some misunderstanding about Noah.

DUSTY:
That's the thing.
I don't think it was
a misunderstanding.
I think she was right.

LUCINDA:
Oh Dusty. Don't be silly.
Noah has been the best thing to
happen to Luke in a long time.

DUSTY SIGHS:
Maybe you're right.
Maybe I'm just worrying too much.
It's just... I don't want to
see Luke or Noah get hurt.

<FADE IN>

LUCINDA (WORRIED):
What makes you think that Luke
or Noah will get hurt?

DUSTY:
Are you serious?
Look at the way Noah's father acted!

LUCINDA:
Yes, that was unfortunate.
Colonel Meyer – is evil too strong a word?

DUSTY:
There are other people
that feel the same way, though.
They could be out there,
plotting some kind of scheme
that'll hurt both or either
of them, or worse.

LUCINDA:
Do you know something, Dusty?
Has someone threatened Luke and Noah?

DUSTY SHAKES HIS HEAD:
It's just a feeling.

LUCINDA:
If you find something out,
take it to the police.
I'll tell Lily to be careful though.
I'm sure she'll be fine.

DUSTY:
Thank you, Mrs. Walsh.
I'll feel so much better knowing that
Lily's been warned.

LUCINDA (LIGHTLY):
Don't mention it.
Coffee?

DUSTY:
Sure.

DUSTY AND LUCINDA WALK OFF TOGETHER.

<FADE OUT>

<COMMERCIAL>

<FADE IN>

SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE PORCH

LUKE AND NOAH ARE SITTING ON THE SOFA.
HOLDEN IS SITTING ACROSS FROM THEM.

NOAH IS WORRIED:
I hope I didn't do something to
hurt you, Luke. I never meant
anything like -

LUKE:
No! No, Noah. It's nothing like that.
I appreciate – that's too weak a word...
I love everything we've done.
You've been... beyond perfect.

HOLDEN CLEARS HIS THROAT.

LUKE:
Oh... but I just need to ask you something.
And I'm not trying to pry or anything,
but I keep getting a bad feeling.

NOAH IS CONCERNED:
About what?

LUKE:
Okay, I'm just gonna ask this.
Why are you always hanging out with Dusty Donovan?

NOAH SIGHS:
God, I thought I was the only one
getting a bad feeling around him.

HOLDEN:
What type of bad feeling do you guys get?

LUKE:
I know he's hiding something.
I just don't know why.

NOAH:
I've asked him the same thing.
He says he's my friend... and
I want to believe him. But it just
doesn't feel right.
I also have a feeling that he's
somehow responsible for... what
happened with your mom the other night.

LUKE:
What gives you that idea?

NOAH:
I'm not sure. I mean, she was never cold like
that before. Even when she was angry with
me, she was always so passionate.
It just felt like she had been turned off
to everything around her.

HOLDEN:
I got that feeling too.
You think Dusty's responsible for that?

NOAH NODS.

NOAH:
The other night... when I told her about
how I cared about you, Luke.
It was like ice melting. She just
completely lost that cold shell...

LUKE:
Then you lost your hardened one.

NOAH SMILES AT LUKE, REACHING OUT TO PUT
HIS ARM AROUND LUKE AND PULL HIM CLOSER.

NOAH:
Yeah.

<FADE OUT>

injest:
 >:( >:( :o :o :-X

 :) :) ;) :( (poor lil Faith)

that DUSTY is a grade a trouble making JERK...

LOL!!

LUKE:
No! No, Noah. It's nothing like that.
I appreciate – that's too weak a word...
I love everything we've done.
You've been... beyond perfect.

HOLDEN CLEARS HIS THROAT

scared Daddy there for a second...!!!

aww. I am proud of Luke for just coming out and asking Noah about Dusty...shows maturity and trust!

Daniel:
I fear I may have ended that too weakly...  Most soap opera episodes end with an exclamation mark, not a period.

most is the operative word there. There has been a lot of drama so a chance to relax for a time will just make the next drama that more sharp? (that is the wrong word I know)

yb:
OK, I have to post the following news and I am not sure if this is the right thread for this:

Van is chosen as the #1 Actor of 2007, with Jon Hensley (Holden) #2 at Daytime Confidential.  I have to admit I know nothing about US media, I have no idea whether this is of significant value or not, but I am very happy for them, I love them both.

--- Quote ---Van Hansis, ATWT (Luke Snyder)- what do you say abouthis amazing young man?  He can do it all- anger, vulnerability, weeping, physical pain and love. Why can’t all the soaps have ATWT’s cast director?

Jon Hensley, ATWT (Holden Snyder) – Yes, I know- 2 ATWT actors topping the list. Sue me.

Going back to the beginning of the year, his performance as a man who felt abandoned and felt guilty about it during his wife’s coma was outstanding. He is a staunch supporter of his gay son and can switch from angry to vulnerable on a dime. Watch for Hensley at Emmy time.
--- End quote ---
