The Amazing Race (Now Season 25 chat)
RoselynAlva:
Ron and Christina...may be their luck.
Kelda:
The new season starts on 25th September! Looks like a good mix and my favourite team so far are the gay flight attendant couple Ron and Bill...
You can see a youtube video which is like 3 minutes at
Other competitors are:
Lawrence and Zac Sunderland.. Zac is the youngest person to sail the world. What I noticed from their video is that the dad is english! That means a non US-er has been on the Amazing Race? Surely that opens up the flood gates for MEEEE to enter!?!
Ethan and Jenna from Survivor. I don't know them but the US TAR fans have become very excited about this... they both won Survivior, they are a couple and he had Lukemia?
Kelda:
So, what did people think of the first episode?
There is a big debate on TAR forums about the two showgirls and whether the 'passport-gate' thing was fair. Basically - it was an 'uber' fan of the show who encouraged the guy to go to LAX. This person along with a group of others knew that the show was due to start and would likely be leaving from the east coast. So they were basically monitoring twitter for mentions of the Amazing Race to get clues about who was on the race and where it was going. In doing that they came across the tweet from the guy saying he had just seen the amaxing race and had found the girls passport and these uberfans intervened by tweeting him and saying - go give it back.. they'll not be able to race otherwise..!
So the debate is - is it right for someone with so much TAR knowledge to intervene in what would happen in the show so deliberately? Because apparently TAR production was told by the showgirls' film crew that they may need a Philimination at LAX since they knew one had lost her passport. Another production team in Taiwan was monitoring Twitter and saw Tweetgate unfolding and alerted Phil that the Philimination may not be necessary after all.
If I had found the passport and knew where the racers were going - I'd have probably gone to LAX too - but I'd have told the petrol station assistant what I was doing.
I'd have done this because I would have been so excited to see the race and help out teams.
I probably would have tweeted about it later - although not at the time.
As for the rest of the leg, I LOOOOVVVVVEEEE that bungee! I wonder if thats done regularly there?
Dissapointed with the older team. I had read some of the spoilers and thought they were going to be much better.
Meryl:
I liked the first episode, too. Regarding tweetgate, I think they should let the girls keep going. Lots of "acts of God" happen along the way of the races, and this just happened to be some good luck coming their way IMO.
I much prefer the double elimination on the second leg to the cruelty of eliminating a team on the first leg, or even before the first leg.
The team that lost were amusing, they were so laid back. As we've seen before, too much education can be just as unhelpful as not enough. ;)
I love seeing Ethan running the race. I always liked him on Survivor. But it's too early to have a favorite team. :)
Kelda:
yeah I'm liking the team so far - and I get a good vibe from the Survivor team - even though I dont know them - a bit like the big brother team a few seasons back.
The last team... yes, they were so laid back.. I could never be that laid back.. when it was all going long i think I;d freak out. I'd be so gutted going out first so having an extra leg is a god send for them..
