Sometimes I like songs, but I don't always necessarily read the lyrics which means I often miss the meaning of the song. So here is a place to post the words, the lyrics, to songs I find. If anyone else finds lyrics they like please post them here as well. I always like discovering new music and songs from other people. Who knows someone from here could end up being on the Singing Bee  ;D and then we will know the words

OK, here's the first one, I am trying to go through many of my homemade CDs that I have made from either other CDs or ITunes or similiar places. This song is called "Ocean Avenue" by Yellowcard.

Ocean Avenue - Yellowcard

There's a place off Ocean Avenue
Where I used to sit and talk with you
We were both 16 and it felt so right
Sleeping all day, staying up all night
Staying up all night

There's a place on the corner of Cherry Street
We would walk on the beach in our bare feet
We were both 18 and it felt so right
Sleeping all day, staying up all night
Staying up all night

If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away

There's a piece of you that's here with me
It's everywhere I go, it's everything I see
When I sleep, I dream and it gets me by
I can make believe that you're here tonight
That you're here tonight

If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
I know somewhere, somehow we'll be together
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away

I remember the look in your eyes
When I told you that this was goodbye
You were begging me not tonight
Not here, not now
We're looking up at the same night sky
And keep pretending the sun will not rise
Be together for one more night
Somewhere, somehow

If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
I know somewhere, somehow we'll be together
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away

injest:
that is beautiful, Jack.

and sad.

there are two songs that have lyrics that I love...but I don't know the name. I heard it when I was a kid...back in the early seventies or late sixties I think. There was a period in country music when they did a version of what we call rap these days...spoken words in a sing song voice.

They call me a poet
he has a way with words they say
but sometimes words, they're just not enough
like what is the word for the funny shaky feeling
I get when I see you?
Or the warm wonderful confusion when you touch me?

A poet? no no I am not a poet
but if I were, if every word in the world was at my command
my poem would still be
I love you

I love you
what more can I say?

jstephens9:
Jess, I haven't heard that song, but I would love to. The words are GREAT!!!
