Saturday Night Fever

But definitely see it right away.  Even after all this time, it is still among my absolute, all time favorite movies. It has some of the best shots of NY, especially Brooklyn, of any film ever. Also there is a lot more to it than just the dancing, the music, and John Travolta looking cute. A lot more.

Right away? Oh, after 30 years, I think it'll keep.  ;D

How did I avoid seeing Saturday Night Fever? Probably because I've never particularly cared for Travolta. I don't hate him, he just leaves me, ehh. ...  :-\

Also, the mid- to late-1970s were my growing-up years, really growing up, becoming an adult. That was a rough time, and I don't really have good memories of that time. Also, looking back always depresses me.

But, God, I loved the music. I still have the double vinyl soundtrack album.  :D

I loved disco music. I can't dance, haven't got a smidgen of rhythm in me, but I loved the orchestration behind the singer. It wasn't just four guys with a couple of guitars, drums, and a keyboard. There were strings! And brass!

That is great Jeff, I kept many of my albums from that period as well. I really enjoyed being young in the late 70's. I am sorry that you did not enjoy the time. Hopefully you can catch some of the spirit of fun that we had by watching the movie. See "Last days of Disco" as well, it captures some of the inane funniness of the times too.

I'm putting on "Disco Duck" just for you right now!

I remember that. All too well. ...

Thanks. ...

I will never forget that girl pleading: "We can make it!"

And man he could move! Still, I like Travolta better with a little meat on his bones.  ;)

Then you must have really loved him in "Hairspray"!

BTW, I'm so old I remember when John Travolta was Vinnie Barbarino on "Welcome Back, Kotter"!
