Meryl:

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, BROKIES!

dejavu:
Happy President's Day, all U.S. Brokies.

And Hello to all Brokies everywhere.

I haven't been here for a while, and Chuck suggested that I come to this thread to say hi.  Truman, thanks for asking about me.  I've been out of town a lot since before Thanksgiving, with my family in Colorado, and then just after I got home for the last time (Feb 4), I caught a bad cold myself, but it's getting better.

Some of you know about my sister having breast cancer.  She's considered cancer-free now, but she had emergency surgery on her birthday in December because she developed a staff infection after her reconstructive surgery a few weeks earlier.  That's one reason I went back to Colorado so soon after coming home from the Thanksgiving visit.  My mother, who is doing well enough but likes someone else in the house, was another reason for going back and staying so long.  I ended up being out there for Christmas (with cousins who visited from South Carolina), for New Year's, Martin Luther King Day, and even Ground Hog Day     ...barely making it back home for the Super Bowl on Feb 6 (not that I really cared).

I've had many things to catch up on around the house.  I gave away some unneeded furniture and a friend let the people come in while I was gone, so I still have some rearranging to do of what is left here.  I had huge piles of mail, Christmas cards to open in February, income tax statements, and like I said, I caught a bad cold and hardly felt like getting out of bed for a couple of weeks.  Oh, yes, and my nonstop flight home from Denver to Philadelphia made an emergency landing in Omaha, Nebraska, of all places, and we were on the ground for five hours before another plane came in to let off iits Omaha-bound passengers and take us home.

But the worst and most exciting part is over, I hope, and I should be back here soon, just as good as new.  Thanks for wondering where I was, and I hope everything is going well with all of you.

Love,
Debbie

Meryl:
It's good to have you back, Debbie!  Thanks for the update.  Glad to hear your sister is okay and your Mom, too.  :-*

dejavu:
Thanks, Meryl.

I forgot to add (because I lost my original post) that my sister goes back to work tomorrow, after being off on benefits since mid-March of last year.  She would have to go back within a year, or she says she could lose her job.

She'll need some more surgery (since the last one didn't turn out so well, with the infection) but that can't happen until she's been back at work for a certain number of weeks...possibly not until September.

I wanted to spend as much time out there with her as I could, while she wasn't working.  Not only going to the chemo appointments and other doctor's appointments with her, but we went out to eat quite often, and had time to talk and catch up on things.
