Penthesilea:
Meryl! Great to get an update on things in Alaska. :)

With temps in the thirties, you have it warmer than I do at the moment. :o

Toi, toi, toi with the opera!

Jeff Wrangler:
Good to hear from you, Miz Merly!  ;D

Seriously? A rental car in Alaska that didn't come with snow tires? Seriously?  :o

Happy Monday, Brokies! What did everyone think of the Grammies last night? Or Downton Abbey, if you went there instead.

I spent the evening with Miss Barbra, watching Funny Girl, which I'd never before seen all the way through.

Omar Sharif was always easy on the eyes. ...  8)

That is one of my all time favorite movies Jeff.  I owned the "soundtrack back in the seventies.  I would not even venture a guess how many times I listened to that.  Or how many times I watched the film.  My hubby and I went to see it the first time in the theater.  It was for an anniversary, (can't remember which one.)  We went to the de rigeur, dinner and a movie.  I remember, my husband commenting as we left, the
storyline was very similar to ours...   Barbara was at her finest in that movie....awesome..  Maybe I will watch it again.  I do love it, and the music is not to be beaten..

Then there is the Grammys.  I like some of it, and other parts, I almost hated.  I am overall sad that I missed Downton in favor of watching them.  I could have  picked them up later, on other places.  The parts that I wanted to see.  Leaving out the stuff, that was close to hurtful to watch...  I hated the extra, generic lighting and stage productions.  I hated Chris Browns dancing up and down the pyramid of blocks.  The whole thing was close to damaging to the eyes, and psyche.  I loved Bruno Mars, and Adele,  Jennifer Hudson's tribute to Whitney, was absolutely flawless.  Very emotional and powerful.  She is the Whitney of this time.  I was so so angry when she was bumped from Idol.  She was my favorite all the way.  It certainly hasn't hurt her in the long run however.
I was very ho hum about it overall.  Sorry to say.
