--- Quote from: MaineWriter on November 01, 2006, 08:02:53 am ---No ghosts in this old house. I think the family that lived here for most of its existence were a pretty happy bunch and didn't leave behind any sad souls who were forced to wander the earth for all eternity.

My grandmother lived in an old house in Marblehead, Mass (circa 1660) and it did have a ghost--a young woman. The story was that she was serving girl and got pregnant by the man of the family. When the baby was born, the wife took the baby and sent the girl back to her home in Salem. The ghost was the young woman, holding out her arms (as if reaching for the baby). She appeared the first time when my sister was born...no, my sister wasn't born in the house, she was born in a hospital in NY, but the ghost appeared at that time up in Massachusetts. She also appeared several times during the summer when we were there--my mother saw her, but I never did (I was only 6 at the time). My grandmother sold the house not all that long afterwards so I have no idea if the ghost is still there or not.

What an interesting story, thank you! BTW, Louise was telling us last nite in the Halloween chat about how ghosts could be dissuaded from wandering around by putting sweets on their graves. Thus the association of Halloween with sweets. The sweets did not dissuade my son from wandering through the neighborhood, in fact they had the opposite effect!!

Northern Bavaria, 5 am. First snow and tons of car crashes due to black-ice. Looks like it's getting Winter...  ::)

G'morning all!

Tis raining out this morning.   And it is bringing down even more leaves!  ARG!   It hardly looks like I raked at all yesterday!

     Today is my Monday.    :P

MaineWriter:
Rainy and dreary here, too.

The indoor shower is IN but I took an outdoor shower. Old habits die hard...actually, with the time change, it is not pitch black out there at 6:15 am anymore, so I am inclined to still commune with nature, for as long as I can.
