I gave my cat a bath the other day. He knocked over the syrup bottle and then stood underneath the kitchen counter as it drizzled all over him. I'll NEVER give that cat a bath again. The first 5 minutes was pure hell on earth. He hissed, screeched, yowled and flung himself all over the bath tub. And I have the scratch marks on my arms to prove it.

I think every cat does that! I have only washed my cats once - and that was enough - imagine having two scratching yowling cats in the one bathroom.. gha - and the smell!!! eugh!
but David - that was funny and almost true - especially the Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.

My sister used to wear a catcher gear to bathe a cat we had a long time ago. She would put on the chest protector and the mask. If you have one, put it on next time you give your cat a bath. Wear a long sleeved shirt too, they come in handy!

ok...I know ya'll are joking around...but here is a couple of tips for washing a cat..(I have done it on occassion when it was necessary (once when a cat got accidently sprayed with poison and another time when we found a cat someone had spraypainted and tortured and dumped on our land)
put a towel down in the tub (so they have something to hold on to) put the cat IN the tub BEFORE you run the water....let the water come up on them gradually, make sure it is nice and warm. don't let it get too deep. Use human shampoo and just a little goes a long way.
Never had one panic on me...have been scratched but not any major damage, and never intentionally, they were just trying to find a hold on something...they don't like slipping.... Hold the scruff of the neck with one hand at all times though...
