They were in excellent condition even though  I played with them quite a bit.  (We didn't keep the boxes in those days.)  A neighbour girl would come over with her Barbies and we'd play house.  G.I Joe would go off to war in the morning like it was a day job.  I even made clothes for my Joes, how gay is that!  I also had lots of accessories: a diving bell; a white arctic outfit c/w sled (I don't remember dogs though); a camouflage poncho;  I seem to remember a yellow inflatable dingy but maybe I' dreamt that...

Well, I'd like to know just what kind of clothes you made. :)

That reminds me of a funny story. I used to have a ton of Barbies (well, maybe three) and one year, finally, I got my wish: I got Ken for my birthday! I had Barbie's masquerade outfit (see below, Barbie's is in the middle. The one for Skipper is on the left.) I did not have Ken's jazzy masquerade outfit (on the right in the picture) so I had to improvise. I got a roll of black electrical tape and very carefully turned Ken into "the mummy." You know what electrical tape does to Ken? Rips his hair off and leaves black sticky residue all over his body. I was devastated and I never got another Ken...
