Frontier Launches New Non-Stop Service Between Denver and Hartford Frontier Becomes the Only Denver Carrier to Serve Hartford, Connecting This Critical New England Hub to Over 20 Destinations in the Western U.S., Mexico and Canada
DENVER, March 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Travelers now have a convenient, comfortable way to fly between the Mile High City and New England's Rising Star. Frontier Airlines (NASDAQ: FRNT) will launch its service between its Denver International Airport (DEN) hub and Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford, Conn. at 11:55 p.m. MST tonight, with the inaugural flight arriving in Hartford at 5:35 a.m. EST. The daily non-stop flight between Denver and Hartford will utilize Frontier's new Airbus A319 aircraft -- with 33 inches of legroom, 24 channels of DIRECTV® service and pay-per view movies -- connecting New England to the Rocky Mountains and Frontier cities throughout the western United States and Mexico, including Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. The new route marks Frontier's return to New England -- the airline provided service between Denver and Boston from 1997 to 2002 -- and complements Frontier's other East Coast service to New York (LaGuardia), Philadelphia and Washington D.C. (National).
Until today, Hartford was the second largest unserved market from Denver, and the largest market from Denver lacking air service in the last two years.
"Bradley Airport is soaring to new heights, and that's great news for our state's economy," said Governor M. Jodi Rell. "On behalf of the many Connecticut residents who have friends and family in the Denver area, I welcome Frontier to Connecticut."
"This daily service will give travelers flying out of Bradley low-cost access to world-class skiing, Mexican beaches, a thriving Denver business community and connections to all of Frontier's destination cities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico," said Ralph J. Carpenter, Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Transportation. "At the same time, we anticipate many new tourists and other visitors to Connecticut as a result of this new service, which can only help boost our efforts toward economic development. I too would like to welcome Frontier to Hartford for a long and mutually beneficial relationship."
Frontier's new daily service from Hartford will launch just in time for Spring Break skiing in March, when Colorado resorts typically are blanketed with their highest snowfall totals of the season. Passengers who fly between the March 2 launch and April 15, 2007, can exchange their Frontier boarding pass receipt at any lift ticket window at Winter Park/Mary Jane (
http://www.skiwinterpark.com/) or Copper Mountain (
http://www.coppercolorado.com/), two of Colorado's most popular ski resorts, and receive two lift tickets for the price of one.
"Frontier is proud to be the only carrier to fly non-stop between Hartford, a key business gateway in New England, and Denver," said John Happ, senior vice president of marketing and planning for Frontier Airlines. "We get more requests from passengers to serve New England than any other area in the U.S., so we're looking forward to bringing the Frontier experience to Connecticut and southern New England travelers."
