Favorite Childhood Songs

I was thinking it would be fun to post youtube videos of our favorite childhood/teenage songs in a thread. And even if you can't find a youtube video, you could post lyrics to your favorite songs. I'm very sentimental and I love to reminisce.

I've already posted this video in my blog, but it's worth repeating. This song is "I Want You Back" from the Jackson 5. If there ever was a song that brings back memories of my childhood, this would be it. It played constantly on the radio when I was 8 or 9 years old. I LOVED the Jackson 5! I had all their albums and I wore many of them out from playing them over and over again on my record player.

Five extra bonus points if you can guess who "Scoop Newsworthy" really is. But I bet you can figure it out without any problem!  ;)

I'd love it if some of our Brokies from other countries would post videos and lyrics of some of their favorite childhood songs. In the meantime, I'm going back over to youtube to see what else I can find!! :D

"More Than A Feeling" by Boston.

This is another one of my favorites. This song was released when I was about 15 years old. I went to see Boston in concert in Indianapolis the following year. It was my very first concert in fact, and they played this song along with an encore. I'll never forget it.


For those of us on dial-up, this song loads VERY quickly because there is only a splash screen with the music. No moving video to load.

This is another very fast loading youtube clip. There is no video whatsoever. Not even a splash screen. But the music is loud and clear!

"I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore" by REO (we called them REO Speedwagon back in the 70s)

This is a very emotional song for me because this was the song me and my first lover shared together. It was our song. And now, 30 years later, once again history repeats itself. Alex and I have made this our song. We grew up 4,000 miles apart and an ocean away from each other, but this song is very special to the both of us, and it describes our feelings towards each other. Sorry about the mushy stuff.  ::)

The Reo was named after its designer, Ransom Eli Olds (1864-1950), who
eventually left Oldsmobile to form a new company of his own. The first
Reos were chain-driven, single-cylinder 8 hp runabouts with an engine
under the floor and nothing under the hood. At first the car could be
purchased for about $685, but was reduced to $500 by 1909. An upgraded
model which boasted a 16hp twin sold for a staggering $1,250. By 1911
Reo was offering a model called “The Fifth” (because it was, in fact,
their fifth design), at a retail price of $1, 065. Though it didn’t
bear a very creative name, this little 4-cylinder left-hand drive car
was fairly popular. One of it’s most popular vehicles of the time, of
course, was a truck called the REO Speedwagon (from which the popular
rock group took it’s name) which was used as tow trucks, fire trucks
and other workhorse type vehicles. It set the standard by which most
companies producing trucks tried to imitate.
