CellarDweller:
After a two year absence from the music scene, Madonna knew she needed a comeback, and she prepared the release of her newest CD.

2005 gave us "Confessions On A Dancefloor".  Madonna previewed the CD with a single first to build up interest.  Going back to the 70s for samples, Madonna released the first single "Hung Up" which samples ABBA's song "Gimme Gimmie Gimme".

The single "Hung Up" got massive amounts of airplay, and it got Madonna back into the Top 10, getting to #7 on the Hot 100 chart.  "Confessions was a success as well, getting to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

The second single "Sorry" (containing a sample of "Can You Feel It by the Jacksons) was not a big pop hit (#57) but was a fan favorite and a huge hit on the dance charts and in the clubs.

After 3 years away, Madonna returned in 2008 with her new CD, "Hard Candy".

The CD's lead single was "4 Mintues", a collaboration with Justin Timberlake and Timberland.  It was a massive hit, and got to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

A second single, "Give It 2 Me" got to #57 on the Hot 100 chart.

2009 saw the release of Madonna's most recent CD, a greatest hits compilation with two new songs.

The CD is titled "Celebration" and the new songs are the title track, and "Revolver".

Today I've decided to share pics of the autographed CD collection I have.

;D

The artists are all performers of Freestyle music.

Freestyle is a genre of music that was very popular from the mid 80s to the mid 90s.  Take the Latin sounds of salsa and merengue and mix a little dance/pop into it, and you have freestye.

Where I can, I will give chart statistics and information on the artists, and post YouTube links to samples of the music, so you can listen to them, if you choose to.  When I can, I will post footage of the artists performing, or their videos.

This first artist helped dance music in a BIG way!

The year is 1983, and freestyle was about to break out into the national stage.

Shannon releases her debut CD, "Let The Music Play", and the first song released is the title track.  The song became known as "electro-funk" and went to #8 on the Hot 100 singles chart.  It's considered the first song to break open the door to dance themed music on radio again, after the "death" of disco in 1980.

A second single from the CD was released, called "Give Me Tonight".  While not as successful as "Let The Music Play", this song did get play on pop radio, and kept dance music on the airwaves.

In 1985 Shannon released her second CD, "Do You Wanna Get Away".

The first single was the title track, and much like "Give Me Tonight", didn't hit the Top 40, but kept dance music on the radio airwaves, and hit the top of the dance charts.

The follow up single, "Stronger Together", also hit the dance charts.  After this, Shannon didn't release new music for years.
