I don't understan the question. I imagine others have the same problem. We are the 'entranced" ones, not Jack,m Ennis, Lureen, Alma, or others IN the story/movie.

I think I get the question. Initially Jack was more entranced by Ennis,probably from the very first glance in the wing mirror.Then I think over time things shifted back and forth.Ennis was reluctantly entranced by Jack.and then overcome,hence the reunion scene.
The whole pattern through both story and film is a back and forth,thrust and parry type situation.
