Moderator Wanted

This section isn't getting the updates it needs.  If anyone out there would be interested in becoming moderator of this forum, please let me know.  You can e-mail me at [email protected] or drop me a private message on here.  Here are the basic requirements:

1. Ability to comb through news reports (Google News, other sites, etc.) looking for BBM stories, with particular emphasis on articles that deliver on our basic theme - the emotional impact on filmgoers, how the film is changing their lives or that of society, and how the film contributes to the discussion on tolerance and acceptance.  We don't really need a ton of generic movie reviews, nor am I particularly interested in the political culture war issue.  TV clips and other video and audio links are also desireable.

2. Willingness to post, at least several times a week with updates.  If you look at earlier articles on here, you'll see my basic format.  I like to quote the most relevant section of an article, preface it with a brief explanation of why it's relevant or interesting, and end with a link to the full article.

That's about it.  As BetterMost grows, I'd like to keep the Movie Resources section alive just for those latecomers who are still exploring the film's impact.  But I also need to focus more on the "moving forward" part and there are only so many hours in the day.

Thanks in advance and let me know if you're interested.

Thank you, Phillip!  I will try to do a very good job.

I have established some custom news alerts which I will be going through daily to search for news about our movie.  I will try to post items of note here.  Other users - by all means - please continue to post interesting links you happen to find.  If possible, let me know how you came across them so I can refine my own search methodology and do a better job.

Thanks!
Lynne

Hey Lynne -- good for you for taking on this job.  I'll keep my eyes open for stuff to send in. I've got a few "alerts" in place too. Iris
Ennis and Jack, the dogs, horses and mules, a thousand ewes and their lambs flowed up the trail like dirty water through the timber and out above the tree line into the great flowering meadows and the endless coursing wind.

Anyone who wants to contribute, please feel free.  The format I find that seems to work the best (and helps people find articles based on the search function) is:

1) In the message subject I put the title of the article and then list the source.  If it's audio or video, I specify that as well.  I use this format:

Brokeback Mountain Scores Big (Name of Paper or Source) (Audio/Video)

2) In the body, I usually preface articles with a brief comment, usually done in blue text and italics, as to why the article is relevant, especially to the overall purpose of the site - how the movie affects people/their lives/society, etc.

3) I try to quote at least 2-3 paragraphs from the article which really speak to the theme of the article.  Often I don't simply quote the first two paragraphs but something profound someone said inside the article.  It's really anyone's choice on what to quote, but I always quote something so that people can find it in a site search.  I then append a link to the full article at the end.

If you want to host some audio or video clips, I have many gigabytes of storage space.  Just send me a private message and I'll give you instructions on how to proceed.  Let me know how big the item is in file size - that helps me tell you where to send it to.
