The TV broadcast was bloody awful, and I started losing interest through the middle of last week.
Congratulations to all the athletes from all over the world, you did well........now go get a proper job.

Woo hoo!!!!!!!!! My gaydar is SPOT ON!!! I was - ahem - admiring him as he came out of the pool and as he reacted to his dive scores, waved to the camera and moved back to the pool, my gaydar went off. Actually it went off first when he was about to make his dive, standing with his back to the pool, he rubbed his palms on his swimsuit to dry them so he could do a handstand. All of them do it. My gaydar started going off when he did. Strange.
As he hugged his coaches and teammates, I was getting the Greg Louganis vibe, too.
No, I only saw Team Aussie cheering for him, but I didn't think no sign of family was unusual. Lots of athletes don't have their families there or the media doesn't bother to spotlight them. But yeah, that sucks if he is the gold-medal winner, cheated the host country of a sweep and they didn't highlight his family and SO.

Trust me, at that level of competition, their bodies will give out soon enough. They don't have a choice. You heard Nastia the gymnast when asked if she will appear in London in 2012 (just 4 years away, she is only 20), she hedged and coughed and didn't really answer.
Chances are the answer is no. I listen when the announcers say whether or not the person participating was involved in the last Olympics. Some were, a lot aren't.
And since the amateur status rule was taken away, being a professional athlete is a job - see football/baseball/soccer/hockey, etc. ;)

They have Olympic trampoline? :o
Yeah, that's a bit of an eyeroller. My boy Matt Mitchum the diver though used to be like a junior competitor at trampoline.
