songs that make you think of Jack and Ennis

This intimate little gem is my favorite song from Beck's recent Guero album. Needless to say, I was attracted by the "we'll shoot our guns" imagery  ;) , but the song also has slide guitar (I'm a sucker for it) and a very slow beat, like the BBM music.

"Broken Drum"

I see you there
your long black hair
your eyes just stare
your mind is turning

you know I'll laugh
and I won't take it back
I've seen your eyes I know
what you're thinking

and one by one
we'll shoot our guns
we'll have our fun
don't ever doubt it

and when I say
fare thee well
my only friend
oh how the days go

your setting sun
your broken drum
your little drugs

I'll never forget you

never

forget

          you

That is beautiful, Belkgianboy. I also wanted to say that I have corrected some of the English words in "Confiderntiel," which I got straight from someone who speaks French and Germasn fluently, snd sent my a good German translation---my English translastion came from Google, and wasn't too hot...with her , I was able to make a better English one. Hope THAT makes sense...

Suzanne--Leonard Cohen

Suzanne takes you down to a place by the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night forever
And you know that she's half crazy
And that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you want to tell her
That you have no love to give her
She gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you think you'll maybe trust her
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.

And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men shall be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think you'll maybe trust him
For he's touched your perfect body with his mind.

Suzanne takes you down to a place by the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night forever
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Amid the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust her
For she's touched your perfect body with her mind.

twistedude:
There's a young man that I know,
his age is 21
Comes from down in southern Colorado
Just out of the service,
he's lookin' for his fun
Someday soon, goin with him
someday soon.

 My parents cannot stand him
'cause he rides the rodeo
My father says that he will leave me cryin'
I would follow him right down
 the roughest road I know.
Someday soon, goin' with him,
someday soon.

"Duelling Banjos" from "Deliverence"...if we made more music, and didn't get in each other's way so much, the world might be a better place...I thought i was going to haveta BUY this movie to hear and see these two guys play together again...
