Here We Go Again... Copyright Royalties

(1/2) > >>

Phillip Dampier:
Once again, the Copyright Royalty Tribunal is up to no good again with another deadline approaching in the negotiations over copyright royalties for music played on Internet radio stations.  This impacts on our own BBM Radio/Live 365 arrangement.

I have spent the last week researching taking BBM Radio offshore if this happens and have an arrangement to re-launch the station on a server in Johannesburg, South Africa, Kiev, Ukraine, or Victoria, BC Canada, outside of the reach of the greedy US royalty people.  I am not sure which of these we'd exactly end up on yet, but I do have a plan to keep us going if any plugs get pulled in the USA on Live 365.  We'd then pay royalties under one of the other three countries' royalty agreements.

Jeez, I'm so happy I don't have to deal with all the legal (and the technical) stuff around here.
Thank you Phillip for all your efforts! And John of course!

I hope there will be an acceptable agreement with the Copyright Royalty Tribunal so you won't have to go the offshore way.

Does this mean we can get rid of the JC Penny commercials?   :D

At least they are classier than the prescription drug abuse PSAs!  People must wonder if we're overrun with Vicodin pill freaks....
