That clinches it:  I'm joining GLAAD today.

My contributions and memberships to support gay people in the political arena has always been through the Human Rights Campaign, People for the American Way, and the ACLU.  The latter two aren't strictly gay-rights organizations, but they both do major work to improve the conditions of our lives.

It so happens I just received a mailing from GLAAD a couple of days ago, and was considering joining them as well.  Thanks, Lynne, for alerting us to these stories...  GLAAD's membership just increased by 1!   :-*

Count that 2, because I am in as well.
Are you involved in pflag at all?  I joined them quite a few years ago - not as much a political focus, I guess.

No, not a member of PFLAG but I certainly am glad to know they are there!  I alerted my parents to them way back when, and continue to refer people to it, especially when I meet a parent who has just learned their child is gay or lesbian.  Very important stuff they do.  :)

It's not so much that they're not political enough; actually, PFLAG is a very political organization when you think about it.  And believe it or not, until recently I haven't been politically active since the early 70's...  King Bush invigorated the political animal in me, and then Brokeback Mountain focused my energy on human rights for gay people.

How glad I am to get to know you, Lynne!
