Wow.  This one is a parallel to the scene early on when Jack puts his boots to the fire.  Again, what a contrast.  Jake just totally nails that dead-eye look.  Damn, he's good.

I was thinking last night about another parallel that they do show.  The very first scene is the truck Ennis is arriving in against those beautiful foothills.  When Ennis leaves Lightning Flat to head home, again we see truck lights going past those same hills.  It's as if each scene is the bookend of the only meaningful period of his life - the period in which he knew Jack.  All that comes before and all that comes after means nothing.

David:
Indeed.   Jack sure looks like he has something on his chest that he needs to talk about doesn't he?    What a great Actor Jake is!

Jenny--I just scanned them from the Oscar promo book, and then stuck them in my "documents" file, which comes up when I hit "browse"...don't remember any little flakes..be more specific...oh, did I forget "boys like you?" (or "is that a fucking problem?")--and "alov"..

Oh--you meant the flashback scene--some of them have scratches, and some don't. I always call it "on a cracked plate." (The last photo of Lincoln was on a cracked plate..whaever THAT has to do with it...nothing, I guess)
