Daniel:
YOUNG JACK:
((Jack nods.))
**Who we postin' it to?**
saucycobblers:
JBB:
** Mr TERRY CLOTH, c/o Ms CHER's Sacred Comeback Tour Wig Trunk **
((JBB collapses into a pool of lanolin-free, non-comedogenic weeping))
Daniel:
YOUNG JACK:
((starting to get a little weepy himself.))
**Allight, 'nuff of that, now... Maybe he's happier whar he is? We.... we gotta learn ta let go of 'em.**
((Jack looks down at the postcard.))
**But I'll send yer postcard. Lettin' em go don't mean you haf ta hide yer feelin's from 'em. Jest means they're their own people... got their own dreams 'n such... I guess I always thought I'd be part a Ennis' jes like you'd be part of Terry's, I wonder if we can be happy like that agin.**
((Jack gets up from where he was sitting on the stoop just outside the gas station. He gently picks up JBB, puts him in his pocket, then heads in to return the pen and get the postcard posted.))
Ellemeno:
JACK'S TEMPORARY IMAGINATION
%% In your eyes
The light the heat
In your eyes
I am complete
In your eyes %%
((humming along with the haunting Peter Gabriel song, JACK'S IMAGINATION fantasizes ENNIS as a Venice Beach surfer dude, playing the guitar to it))
%% In your eyes
The light the heat
In your eyes
I am complete
In your eyes %%
((in a reverie, the look in ENNIS's eyes comes back vividly to JACK'S IMAGINATION, the memory still green
The memory of those beautiful eyes makes JACK'S IMAGINATION so sad, that it hurries to a new imagining, one that never made the final cut of their time together
Daniel:
YOUNG JACK:
((still uncertain where he was going, Jack decided to heed the old CLERK's advice. He moved on as fast as his legs would carry him, wishing all the time for a spirited horse that could at least get him someplace faster... Even his old filly: the LOW STARTLE POINT HORSE sounded good right now, and heavens knew, she was a handful.))
((Thinking on old friends in high places wasn't helping matters much, though, and Jack felt a sadness wash over him. Didn't have enough money for a bus to anywhere, let alone up to where Ennis was, which was where he wanted to go. Would he be welcomed even if he went?))
((Jack pulled out a piece of beef jerky, chewed as he walked, which some people claim to have difficulty doing but Jack found he had a knack for.))
