JACK is so overcome with feelings brought on by being close to his one-and-only ENNIS that his voice is working independently of his brain.  He doesn’t know that half of what he is saying is actually BS, no way  could his son be 8 years old (although the pictures ARE incredibly cute, no doubt about that!).
