((  voice shaking a little  ))

Whut a you mean, END!?

((  Looks over at Ennis. By the light of the campfire sparkeling tears show in the indigo eyes.  ))

ENNIS:

(( Ennis feels the lump in his throat grow bigger.  He sees Jack's expression go from hope to devastation.))

I'm with Alma, Jack.  We have a life together. We have the girls. You have a son.   We can't ever be together.  Ya know what happens ta guys like us?  Ain't pretty, bud.  Why?  Did ya think we had some future?

(( Ennis puts his head back down, almost shameful of his declaration.))

Daniel:
OLDER JACK'S INNER CHILD:

((As though struck by a chord of memory from a page on this very thread a very, very, very long time ago. Music wafts in again, bearing soft lyrics which once again fit the scene perfectly.))

%%There's a place for us,
Somewhere a place for us.
Peace and quiet and open air
Wait for us
Somewhere.

There's a time for us,
Some day a time for us,
Time together with time spare,
Time to learn, time to care,
Some day!

Somewhere.
We'll find a new way of living,
We'll find a way of forgiving
Somewhere . . .

There's a place for us,
A time and place for us.
Hold my hand and we're halfway there.
Hold my hand and I'll take you there
Somehow,
Some day,
Somewhere!

**  Gotta wash that man right outta my hair.....? **   ;D

( ME -  The 'Cow & Calf' scene by the fireside still breaks my heart as I watch this pivotal, emotional moment between the boys.  I've not watched the DVD in its entirety since I bought it-- seeing it in my home still doesn't seem right to me.  The scene as portrayed by our wonderful Ennis and Jack performers beautifully brings back the sadness....  so...  I'm getting through it by adding my own touch of silliness.  Not the first silliness in our PT, is it?   ;) )

** Carry on, boys. **
