((Ennis feels like someone is pulling out his guts hand over hand.  He puts his right hand to his stomach and shuffles back to the girls in the truck, shoulders dropped, eyes on his boots.  Alma, Jr. leans forward and asks him "You all right, Daddy?"))

ENNIS:  I'm fine, little darlin'.

((Something seizes Ennis.  He staggers backwards a step.  Alma, Jr. says "Daddy?"  He stops.  Steels himself.  Lifts his head and resolutely steps back to the door, opens it, slides in next to Jenny.))

ENNIS:  So how about that ice cream?
