Turns out it is a Bowiea volubilis.

:D Great! I had never known the name ... any relation to David Bowie? ???
So it's surviving? They look cool after they've been growing for a few weeks undisturbed - all the tendrils pointing in the same direction. :D
Also reminds me of a plant I have seen only once. It came up all over Columbia after Hurricane Hugo. Just orange tendrils with small white flowers, growing over everything. Mystical! :D
