I never saw a Santa with a slide--guess you had to live in a big city. Where is the setting here? New York?

L.S. Ayre's used to have a train you rode to get to Santa. It was really cool looking. At least it seemed very cool back then when I was a kid. The train wound around past CHristmas trees and tunnels and a CHristmas village, and then you got off and stood in line to see Santa. I'll never forget that train. Anyone from central Indiana my age or older would remember that train at Ayres. :)
I don't think they had a slide though. You walked back down.

LS Ayre's is gone now. They went out of business, but whomever now owns that building still puts the little golden cherub up on the outside clock at Christmas time. The cherub would magically appear on the clock the day after Christmas. I'm glad they still keep that custom around here. Ayre's was a wonderful department store. I have lots of memories of that store.
