I like both of those, too. So we do have a few things in common!  :)

brokebackjack:
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?

It depends on the gift: some are naturally suited to a bag while others must be wrapped.

2. Real tree or Artificial?

Artificial; a real tree would be impracticle , since --like the rest of Central Denver--we keep it up a very long time

3 When do you put your tree up?

Our tree is lit whenever the tree in Rockefeller Center is lit; sometime during  thne first week of December.

4 When do you take the tree down?

In NYC on the Feast of the Epiphany; here in Denver after the National Western Stock Show...say the first week of February. Stock Sow is cool, they parade Cattle down Colfax Avenue; cowboys, cattle and sheep all over town lol

5. Do you like eggnog?

yes , but in moderation cause it's realllllly heavy

6. Favorite gift received as a child?

A geology kit; a microscope

7 Hardest person to buy for?

My brother Richard, for whom everything must be PERFECT.

8. Easiest person to buy for?

My wife and my mother.

9. Do you have a nativity scene?

Yes. Katrina has a small one. I have the old family one but it's still in NY.   My mother bought it at Macy's when she had her first job. It was a shambles and I restored all the statues; filled in the nicks, re-joined broken sections, restored and repainted it completely in the early 90's when we had this blizzard.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards?

REAL Christmas Cards

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?

It's a tie! YES,its a TIE I tell you, a tie between:

1-----a cassette tape entitled " Songs of the Third Reich:Volume 1-- 'OH, Tannenbaum!' A Compendium of Music for the Holidays In Adolf Hitler's Germany "
2-----a briefcase, designed to make me fit into someone else's mold.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie/Cartoon?

A-----The 3 Christmas episodes from a series which ran a few years ago named 'Roswell'. It was a GREAT series about--as my wife and I put it, 'horny teenaged aliens'. Absolutely no BS: their Christmas episodes may well be among the finest ever filmed for television. My wife and I went crazy over them.

B-----Miracle On 34th Street; the original...while the remake was  nice,  it wasn't GREAT.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?

I do it throughout the year. It works better that way.

14. Have you ever regifted a Christmas present?

Of course I have! roflmao Anyone who says they HAVE NOT is full of @#$%^&*

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?

many, but a fruit stollen comes to mind....

16. Lights on the tree?

A tree should have as many lights as possible.  We have an artificial tree, and I made sure it had abundant lights cause I hate twisting lights around branches.

17. Favorite Christmas song?

Hark the Herald Angels Sing; John Lennon's "No More War"; "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" by THE eURYTHMICS ; Handel's "Messiah"

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?

I have ALWAYS had Christmas at home and since getting married Katrina has umm, JOYOUSLY flown offto NY because she wants to have Christmas with MY family....which says it all.  This year we are actually staying here in Denver and having her mother and brother come to OUR house...  It's a wierd feeling...

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?

not a one

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?

both work . it depends on the tree itself. The one thing I can't fathom is a 'steeple'. They look ridiculous.

21. Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning?

Christmas Eve

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?

It's too short

23. Favorite Ornament theme or color?

Red and Gold

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?

no preference.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year?

Normality    [HAHAHA!!!}
In lieu of that, opera tickets would be nice so long as it was a good company--it's been a while; so would tickets to a visiting philharmonic

a thread for people addicted to Christmas Ornaments

Jeff Wrangler:
Perhaps I should reconsider my answer as to who is easiest to buy for. My friend John, one of my SCA-medieval reenactment buddies, is the easiest person to buy for after myself. All you have to do is find him something with a dragon on it, and he's happy as a clam.  :)
