And, Sason.. thanks for telling us about godis! I've never heard of that kind of candy before.
I'd love to hear more about Halloween traditions in other countries... or if Halloween is even celebrated in various countries. I'd also love to learn more about traditional sweets from around the world.
:D

You're welcome. Actually, godis isn't any particular kind of candy, it's just all types of candy.
Halloween traditions in Sweden?
Well, I don't think you can call it "traditions" exactly, as it was unheard of only a few years ago.
Since then, it's been imported directly from the US, mostly for commercial reasons is my guess.
Now, you see skeletons and pumpkins around in the shops, and I think the kids also go trick or treating. At least some places, or some families.
I don't follow it with any particular interest, since my son is way above that age.
The Swedish tradition, however, for this weekend is "All saint's day".
I'm not very familiar with that either, since I'm not Christian, but as far as I know people decorate the graves
of their loved ones with wreaths and light candles on them.
That's a nice tradition, I think.

That sounds like a very nice custom. And very beautiful too. :D
All Saints Day goes pretty much unnoticed here in the U.S. It is considered a Holy Day in the Catholic faith though, and I remember going to Mass on All Saints Day. Many Americans will decorate the graves of their loved ones on Memorial Day, which is observed on the last Monday in May. Flowers and flags are often placed next to the graves.
Chrissi, I forgot to mention something else about the trick or treaters. If someone does not wish to have the trick or treaters come to their door, they will turn off their porch light. The kids are taught to only go to the homes with the porch lights turned on.

Same here in Germany. Religious or not, going to the graves of loved ones is almost a must on All Saint's Day. It's the only day in the year I go to my father's grave, since it is far away and I'm not into visiting graves.
All Saint's Day is the first of November BTW.

I don't know any house in Germany with a front porch.
But people have lights at the front doors, so we could do the same.
Penthesilea:
I heard people are thirsty and need more drinks
Wait, what's this?
OMF! OMFG!
Someone lost their hand :o
And it fell directly into the bowle!
:o
Enjoy! ;D
