ednbarby:
So, yesterday I was looking at the projected path of Hurricane Ernesto as it was headed, it seemed, right at Louisiana, and I said, out loud even, "Oh, no.  Leave those poor people alone."

So I just checked its path today, and lo and behold,

Well, at least we're not *below* sea level here.  I daresay we'd fare better than New Orleans would if it were hit again.

So bring it on, man.  (I'm not really wishing for that, though.)

tamarack:
Batten down the hatches, ednbarby. My cousins are in the panhandle and things aren't looking too good for them, either, if the track stays the same. At least 73 mph isn't hugely awful as far as the wind is concerned, but it will hit you before it has to travel over land at all so you'll get the full force of it for sure.

Hang on tight!

delalluvia:
You had your heart in the right place barb.

Yeah, I'd go out, get some water and batteries and see what could be nailed down as well.  Better safe than sorry.

nakymaton:
Dear Ernesto:

Please weaken and fall apart over the mountains in Haiti today, and then over Cuba early next week, and don't strengthen over the Gulf. Thanks.

Mel
