dmmb_Mandy:
*still can't think of the thirties*

Is this the half you're talking about: "...showed Ennis how to pack the mules, two packs and a riding load on each animal ring-lashed with double diamonds and secured with half hitches..."

How about: a thousand (from the short story, not the movie, early on)

Ellemeno:
Yes, that's the one.  Is this yours?  I've loved this line -

a thousand ewes and their lambs flowed up the trail like dirty water

Next: none, from the short story, in reference to one of the boys' children.

dmmb_Mandy:
Jack: "I didn't want none a either kind"

How about: third (in the second half of the short story)

I gotta go for now, be back later on to play  :-*

Ellemeno:
On the third morning there were the clouds Ennis had expected

Next: Very, very close to that, a sentence that has two different numbers in it.

dmmb_Mandy:
"Good enough place," looking at the level bench above the river, two or three fire-rings from old hunting camps...

Okay, also nearby, two more numbers within same paragraph as eachother. (Okay, I'm really gone now  :))
