It seems to me that the mood in the Monroe Thanksgiving scene is yearningness:
  • The girls yearning for a rodeo daddy.
  • Ennis yearning for a rodeo cowboy.
  • Alma yearning for the cowboy times she had had with Ennis.
  • Monroe yearning for a chainsaw.  Ooops.
