Thanks, Gil.  This is long, but excellent and very intelligent interview that added to my understanding of the film.  Now I really want to see it again.

Actually, that style of lighting where the light source is on the side so that a triangle of light forms on the shadow side of the face is called Rembrandt Lighting. So you all are right on target.
