Shasta542:
Hi David!!

Happy New Year's Eve!!

I've never seen "Beloved". You'll have to give your recommendations about it. I watched "Legends of the Fall" again today. That one is a big "yes" in my book!  :)

David In Indy:
Hi Gary! HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too, you cutie!!  :-*

Happy New Year to you too Shasta!!

Hi Shasta! Yes, I LOVED Legends of the Fall! I haven't seen it in several years, but I remember I loved it!

Beloved is about Setha, a slave woman who escaped her northern Kentucky plantation, Sweet Home, and managed to bring her children across the Ohio River with her. Setha and her children settled in Cincinnati at her mother in law's house (Baby Sugg). Eventually the overseer, School Teacher, catches up to her and threatens to take her and her children back to Kentucky. She figures it is better to kill her children rather than have them go into slavery back at Sweet Home. She kills her daughter, but is stopped before killing the rest of them (VERY difficult scene to watch). The daughter she killed comes back to haunt her, and she ends up driving Sethe mad from the torment. Part of this story is based on actual events. I highly recommend it!!

Thanks for the review, David! I'll have to see it one day! Sounds intense.

Have ya'll watched "A River Runs Through It"? Same as "LotF" -- set in early 1900's Montana -- Brad Pitt -- I liked it too. Beautiful scenery in both of them.
