I didn't take my camera out there. It was raining and I didn't want to risk getting it wet. BUT my friend took some pictures with his cellphone, and he promised to send them to me. I'll post them here once he does!

There were about 300 to 400 people at the protest. Like I said it was raining, sometimes pretty hard, and it was only 40 F. But it wasn't too bad unless the wind decided to gust. I really do believe we would have had a much larger turnout had the weather been better. Also, the protest wasn't finalized until just yesterday. There for awhile it looked like it wasn't going to happen. Apparently the city requires a 60 day notice, and since Prop 8 only passed a couple of weeks ago, this would have been impossible. But somebody pulled some strings somewhere and the protest was approved yesterday afternoon.

A representative from Andre Carson's office showed up to inform us Mr. Carson fully opposes Proposition 8. He was just elected as the new U.S. Congressman for Indianapolis (Center township I believe). His Mother Julia Carson was the U.S. Congresswoman until this year when she passed away from cancer. Mr. Carson won her seat. He is African-American by the way, so BOOM goes the theory that African-Americans oppose gay marriage! ;)

Three hours is a long time to stand outside in rainly weather, but it was worth it. I'd do it again in an instant. I had fun actually. I'm not sure if protests are supposed to be fun, but I had a good time. :)

Actually I did!

I met several new friends today! Everyone was really nice. I was amazed at how many straight people, even some conservatives and a few evangelical Christains showed up to support us. It was amazing. I'm glad I went to the protest for that very reason alone. I really felt supported. We had a few counter protests but they were very small in number (again probably due to the weather and the short notice) as well as insults hurled at us from passing motorists. But what the hell? Protests really aren't protests until somebody shouts an insult at you! It's a bit like a party isn't a party until something gets broken. ;)

My voice is pretty much gone. I shouted a lot!

Oh no! I can't watch the video Shasta. I'm on dial-up! What are the puppies doing?

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is on TBS!! :D

They are starting these Christmas shows early this year!

Shasta542:
Oh darn!!! Well--right now they are all cuddled up sleeping -- and even that is precious. It's funny when they are playing or chasing their own tails. They wrestle a lot when they are awake. It's fun to watch.
