Okay, but what about this?!! We use steps to climb into a truck (as in a semi trailer truck) and we say "get out of the truck". I've never heard anyone say they got OFF the truck!

I've heard people say that someone "fell off the turnip truck"....or something like that. Don't ask me what that means. It's not the same as "falling off the wagon", tho. :P

I see what you mean about small boats though, Shasta. I've never heard anyone say they're getting OFF the canoe. They say they are "getting OUT of the canoe".
